Valero Alamo Bowl Oregon vs. TCU Picks & Predictions
By Anthony Rome
TCU will attempt to keep pace with the explosive Oregon Ducks without quarterback Trevone Boykin in tonight's Valero Alamo Bowl at 6:45PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book RealBet.eu, the Horned Frogs went from 1.5-point favorites to 7-point underdogs after Boykin was suspended for the game due to an arrest. Boykin was charged with assaulting a public servant, resisting arrest and public intoxication following his role in a bar fight early Thursday morning. Either senior Bram Kohlhausen or redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer will start for TCU under center.
Free Pick:
Kohlhausen stepped in after Boykin was injured in a game earlier this season versus Kansas, leading TCU to a 23-17 victory. The next week against Oklahoma, Kohlhausen started but was replaced by Sawyer as the two signal-callers combined to throw for 219 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions.
Without Boykin, the Horned Frogs averaged just 26 points per game, compared to the 44.8 average with him under center. Oregon has been horrible defensively this season, but the reality is that TCU will be significantly less prolific on offense with Boykin on the sidelines.
The Frogs will give it hell defensively but the Ducks average 548.3 total yards per game and 43.2 points per contest offensively. If Oregon gets a lead and can set the scoring pace, TCU won't be able to match that pace without Boykin.
