Stan Sharp

CFB Total
double-dime bet102 Pittsburgh / 101 Navy Over 52.5 BetUS

Analysis: Stan's Top Totals Bettor has made a Big Play on tonight's Pitt/Navy game. He believes that NAVY will not be able to stop Pitt tonight and he feels that Pitt opens the offensive up to take advantage of a very weak Navy pass defense. Navy gives up almost 300 yds a game thru the air and they haven't played anyone yet. TAKE PITT/NAVY OVER and make them a DOUBLE DIME PLAY.

Strong Opinion
PITTSBURGH (-4.0) 33 Navy 23
05:00 PM Pacific, 10-Oct-07
Navy has covered the spread in just one game all season and the Midshipmen still appear overrated. Navy has a good offensive unit, averaging 6.3 yards per play (against teams that would allow 5.8 yppl to an average team), but the Middies have been horrible defensively (6.9 yppl allowed to teams that would average 5.4 yppl) and have allowed a horrendous 9.7 yards per pass play, so expect Pitt’s frosh QB Pat Bostick to have a good game after averaging a decent 5.0 yppp in games against good defensive teams Connecticut and Virginia, who would combine to allow just 5.3 yppp to an average quarterback. While the Panthers’ offense should move the ball well against Navy’s bad defense I expect the stout Pitt defense to handle Navy’s option attack. Pittsburgh has yielded only 3.9 yards per play and only 3.7 yards per rushing play this season (to teams that would average 5.1 yppl and 4.7 yprp against an average defense), so they are more than capable of slowing down Navy’s offense. Pittsburgh has a significant advantage regardless of which team has the ball and the only thing keeping me from making Pittsburgh a Best Bet is Navy’s long tradition of pointspread success in regular season games away from home (73-34-1 ATS, although 0-2 ATS this season) and coach Johnson’s 20-9-1 ATS record when facing a team with a losing record. Of course, most of those losing opponents weren’t as good defensively against the run as the Panthers are and I’ll consider Pittsburgh a Strong Opinion at -5 points or less and I’d take Pitt as a 2-Star Best Bet at -3 points or les

Tony K (pickspal)

San Jose at Chicago, 8:35 PM ET

San Jose looks to defeat Chicago for the eighth consecutive time when the teams face off at the United Center. The seven-game winning streak is the Sharks' longest active run over any Western Conference opponent. San Jose has defeated Washington 10 straight times.

The Sharks have outscored Chicago 28-12 to win all seven meetings between the clubs since Oct. 15, 2005. Three of those games took place at the United Center, including a 4-1 San Jose victory on March 21, when Jonathan Cheechoo and Milan Michalek each scored twice and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 28 shots.

The San Jose Sharks need a win Wednesday night to salvage a split of their season-opening four-game road trip. Given their recent history against the Chicago Blackhawks, they appear likely to get that victory.

Play the Sharks (-160)

Karl Garrett

Both teams should be ready to go, as both teams have not been on the field since September 29th
The Midshipmen come into this game averaging over 32-points per game, while allowing just over 31-points per game.
The Panthers have been a feast or famine team this year, as they scored 61 points combined in their first 2 games, but just 41 points over their last 3 games. They allowed only 30 points in their first 3 games, but 78 over their last 2 games!
Have to expect the points to add up in this one, as the G-Man expect the offense to dictate play to the defense tonight.

Players Advantage
Pro Hockey Picks
10/10/2007
10:35:00 PM Philadelphia Flyers0 Goals +120
over VANCOUVER CANUCKS
Free Pick on Philadelphia Flyers Money Line +120 @ Vancouver @ 10:35 ET - The Flyers are worth a look here at a nice underdog price. We feel the Flyers are going to be one of the most improved teams in the league this season. They've already started off well by splitting their first two games on a tough road trip to Western Canada to start the season. The Flyers have overhauled their roster and the attitude on this team is much different from last season. As for the Canucks the same problems are likely to be there this season just like last season. Namely that is a problem scoring goals. In their win over Calgary on Saturday they were the beneficiary of an amazing four power play goals. Don't look for the Flyers to be quite so generous tonight. Vancouver also has a big divisional game on deck at Edmonton on Friday. With a win over a division rival Saturday and another divisional game on deck, this game is set up well to be a trap for the Canucks. Also, history buffs will be glad to know that the Flyers have historically fared well against Vancouver. Look for more of the same tonight. Play Philadelphia on the money line as your Free Pick for Wednesday.
