Ben Burns

Game: Boston Bruins at Buffalo Sabres
Prediction: Buffalo Sabres

These teams have already faced each other three times this season. In each case, the home team has emerged victorious. The Bruins won the two games at Boston by a combined score of 10-5. However, the Sabres took the lone contest played here at Buffalo, earning a 3-2 decision. The Sabres were laying roughly -180 for that game. Due to recent results, today's price is much closer to "pick'em" territory. I feel that provides us with solid value on what should be an extremely motivated home team. Looking back further and we find the Sabres at 6-3 the last nine times they were a host in this series and a profitable 24-13 (+4.1) the last 37. Both teams come in well-rested, with neither having played since 11/22. That break should favor the Sabres as they were struggling while the red hot Bruins probably would have preferred to just keep playing. The Sabres are 71-54 the last 125 times they were playing with three or more day's rest and I feel that they've got an excellent shot at getting back on track this evening. Consider Buffalo.

Game: Miami Heat at Portland Trail Blazers
Prediction: Under

Miami is 13-3 UNDER after being out rebounded by 15 or more in their last game and they are 22-10 UNDER off a home loss. The Heat are 23-11 UNDER after a game where they made 12 or more three point shots and they are 15-4 UNDER away when the Total is 190 to 199.5. Portland is 18-8 UNDER off playing a game as a home favorite and they are 12-5 UNDER off a Straight Up win. The Trailblazers are 39-18-1 UNDER on Wednesday. PLAY ON 'UNDER'

MTi Sports

Oklahoma City Thunder at Cleveland Cavaliers
Prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder

The Cavaliers are 0-7 ATS (-6.1 ppg) with no rest after a win in which their field goal attempt per turnover ratio was at least eight and 0-6 ATS (-8.2 ppg) with no rest off a win in which they never trailed. Finally the Cavs are 0-12 ATS with no rest off a 5+ point win in which Lebron James was the Cavs high scorer. Consider grabbing this huge number.

Game: New Orleans Hornets at Denver Nuggets
Prediction: New Orleans Hornets

The Hornets travel to the Mile High city to take on the Nuggets Thanksgiving evening in a matchup of two teams that will both likely be playoff bound this season. Denver has solidified itself since the acquisition of PG Chauncey Billups from the Pistons. The best player on the floor in tonight's matchup, though, is New Orleans PG Chris Paul, an Olympic gold medal winner and MVP of the league. With the Nuggets just 3-9 ATS in this series when playing off a win, including 1-4 as a host to the Hornets, look for New Orleans to pick up the 'W' here tonight.

Drew Gordon

Golden State at BOSTON -12

Maybe tempting to side with the underdog Warriors in this spot, but that would be a mistake and all starts with their recent play. Golden State has lost 3 in a row SUATS, and has looked terrible in the process, especially last night in an ugly 124-100 loss at Washington. Now you want them to turn around the very next day, and make something happen in Boston... Not likely to say the least!

Consider the disparity in defense between the two squads, as the Warriors are allowing a whopping 107 ppg on 45% shooting over their last 5 games, while the Celtics are playing their usual lockdown defense, surrreding just 91 ppg on 39% shooting over the same span. They're even nastier at home, and if you don't believe me, ask the Pistons, who just got blown out there 98-80 in the Celts last home game!

Finally, the match ups are all wrong for Golden State, as their frontcourt of Maggette, Jackson, and Biedrins simply cannot match up with Pierce, Garnett and Perkins. Crawford is streaky as hell and still adjusting to life as a Warrior, while there's no question Rondo wins the match up against Morrow. Also, the bench play is clearly better on the Celtics side. In the end, the Celtics blow the doors off a tired, no-defense playing Warriors squad tonight at home!

Take Boston comfortably over Golden State in this NBA match up.

Boston College vs. PURDUE -8' - at Madison Square Garden

Tonight we smell blowout in the Garden, as Purdue and Boston College have at it.

Boston College comes into this one off their first loss of the season, as BC dropped a low-scoring 53-50 affair at St. Louis on November 22nd. The Eagles will be in trouble tonight against a Purdue team that can not only "D" you up - the Boilers have allowed an average of just 50 ppg this year - but can also score some points with their 4 returning starters from last year's 25-9 team.

Coach Matt Painter's team has all the ingredients to be dancing late in the month of March, and tonight they will show you why.

Purdue is off to a 4-0 start, and they are 3-0 against the spread, already covering imposts of 22, 23, and 19 points! This small number shouldn't be a problem for the Boilers.

Play on Purdue!

Karl Garrett

Orlando +2' at PHILADELPHIA

Let's add to that tonight with a play on Orlando in the NBA.

The Magic have been "magic" against Philly recently, as Orlando has already won, and covered the first meeting of the year, 98-88 back on November 6th at home, as Orlando is now 6-1 straight up the last 7 times they have faced the 76ers, and they are also 4-2 against the spread in the last 6 meetings!

Orlando is off to a 4-1 start this year on the road, while Philadelphia is still struggling to get consistency this season.

The Sixers are off another head-scratching loss, as Charlotte was able to win easily over Philadelphia on Monday. True, Philly has played better at home this year, the problem is, they just don't match up well against Orlando.

Look for Orlando's series dominance to continue tonight.

Take the Magic.

Back on track with the freebies as North Carolina walloped Oregon on Tuesday, meaning I’m now 9-1 with comp plays in College Hoops going back to last year. Tonight, we’ll switch our allegiances and go against the Tar Heels, who face Notre Dame in the championship game of the Maui Invitational.

Simply put, the Fighting Irish are easily the best team the top-ranked Heels have faced this year – and it’s not even close. Notre Dame is 4-0, including an 88-50 rout of depleted Indiana on Monday in Maui and last night’s thrilling 81-80 victory over sixth-ranked Texas as a three-point underdog. The Irish dominated Texas throughout, and if not for a poor effort from the foul line (10-for-21), including several key misses in the waning moments, they would’ve beat the Longhorns going away.

As it is, Notre Dame hit on 47.6 percent of its shots, going 11-for-24 from three-point range, while limiting a solid Texas team to 42.1 percent shooting (8-for-25 from 3s). Obviously, North Carolina is easily the toughest foe the Irish have faced to this point, but the win over Texas last night at least gave the Irish a taste of what it’s like to play in a tight ballgame against a Top 10 opponent. The Tar Heels haven’t had that kind of test yet, and if this game is as close as I think it will be, they’re going to have to figure out how to close out a game for the first time all season. Not easy, especially with senior center Tyler Hansbrough playing limited minutes because of a shin injury.

In the end, this comes down to one thought: Notre Dame, ranked eighth in the nation, has a very good and complete basketball team, one that can score at will and get stops. No doubt, the Irish will have to have their track shoes on tonight, but if they keep draining their long shots, they’ll be in this one throughout and an upset wouldn’t at all surprise me.

For Wednesday take the Kings at home.

A couple of mediocre at the very best teams go at it today from Arco and in the end I'll lay a few cheap points with Sacramento.

Kevin Martin is out and the home Kings are fairly talentless, relatively speaking, but this New Jersey organization is going in the wrong direction and I just cannot see them winning all the way across the country like this and that is pretty much what it takes.

Vince Carter still can fill it up at times but going East to West is always difficult and to be honest with you the Kings have been playing alright of late. They just covered at Staples in a fairly competitive game against Kobe and the Lakers and as the double digit dog lost by one at the Rose Garden against the young and exciting TrailBlazers. Brad Miller and the Kings also shocked the world as the huge dog in New Orleans about a week ago as the 15 point pup against Chris Paul and the Hornets.

The Nets' 6-7 record is definitely a lot better than the Kings' 5-11 mark and New Jersey had won two in a row before just getting smacked against the Lakers but this team is not good at all and are in a tough tough spot today.being about three thousand miles away from home.

I don't see today's visitors able to really get it going after the big game defeat last night in LA against the Lakers. New Jersey should be fatigued here and go through the motions in a loss.

Dennis Macklin

Montana State at Oregon St.
Prediction: Montana State

Craig Robinson, Obama's brother-in-law, really has his work cut out at Oregon State. The Beavers went winless thru the PAC 10 last year and opened 2008 with horrific losses to Yale and Howard. Montana State has been competitive against much better winning at Colorado and losing to Boise State and Nevada. Pac 10 home faves just 5-11 at this point and won't get help when OSU is laying points. Take Montana State.

GRIZZLIES at JAZZ
Pick: JAZZ -9

Point guard Deron Williams is expected to return at 100 percent as Utah welcomes in Memphis, and following a buzzer-beating loss to Chicago the other night, Jerry Sloan's Jazz will be focused on eliminating even the slightest glimmer of confidence from the Grizz. It helps that without Carlos Boozer around, Utah doesn't have to contend with a solid post threat.

Wunderdog

Milwaukee at Atlanta
Pick: Milwaukee +7.5

There is no disputing the Bucks are an under the radar NBA team. After closing last season at 3-21 and winning just seven after the All-Star break, it is easy to count this team among the bottom feeders in the NBA. The problem last year was injuries and the Bucks are much healthier now, but the odds-makers treat them like last year's team. The Bucks have cashed in to the tune of 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 which certainly backs up the fact they are flying under the radar. The Hawks are getting respect from playing the Celtics tough in the playoffs a year ago and their surging start of 6-0 and 7-1 ATS. They have since landed hard going 2-5 straight-up and have disappointed their backers with a 0-6 ATS mark in their last six. One team over-valued and another under-valued, so the Bucks are the play here.

1 Unit on Portland Trail Blazers -7.5

Portland is on fire winning 8 of its last 11 and I like the Blazers to keep cruising against a Miami team that is a long ways from home and just 2-4 SU and ATS on the road this season. Portland is a perfect 5-0 at home and 3-2 ATS in those games. Portland is 16-6 ATS in home games after 1 or more consecutive wins over the last 2 seasons. Momentum and home court has meant money in the bank for Blazers backers. Lay the number.

Greg Shaker

Boston College Eagles at Purdue Boilermakers
Play Purdue -8.5 -110

Purdues plan this year is to limit opponents to 25 points each half. They are doing that very well so far and they have just been dominent this year because of it. With the #6 offensive rating in the country and the #6 defensive rating as well, they are clearly playing up to snuff. Their opponent is a good one for this game at Madison Square Garden and I generally do not like laying points in a game such as this, but an exception here is warrented. Purdue, which has held opponents to 32.9 percent field goal shooting, has limited three teams to 22 points in the opening 20 minutes this season. That has gotten them off to huge starts and they have coasted because of that. Purdue had its worst game of the season on Saturday. The Boilermakers shot a season-low 38.2 percent from the field, including 27.3 percent from beyond the circle, and tied a season high with 13 turnovers in their last contest. But despite that they won easily and that is why teams that play solid D, can weather games like that. The Eagles only chance in this game is to dominate the rebounds and they have the ability to do just that. That is the only way they will maintain a good shooting percentage as they will be hawked throughout. The Boilermakers will be much more focused for this contest and as an added benefit, they have been lights out at the Free Throw Stripe. That should hinder an late comeback by their opponents. This line is on the rise and will probably continue to do just that, so don't delay, get it now..
