These teams met last season when Oregon actually had people that could score and the game played to a total of 139. Utah typically does not play that up-tempo and as a 9 point favorite they should be able to control the pace in this game.
Some Ernie Kent comments on the offense:
“A lot of that has to do with running offense with so many young guys,” Kent said. “We get really stagnant at times; sometimes we dribble too fast and shoot it too fast in the halfcourt. … His frustration has come just because we’ve got so many new guys on the floor, when teams take away that first option they don’t understand how to run and second and third option right now.”
Utah has played excellent defense this season holding opponents to 36.6% from the field and I just can not see the Ducks having much success on the road coming off two sub 35% shooting performances against this Ute’s defense. Oregon already has 4/6 games this season where they shot under 40% and the pace should no be that fast here tonight.
