Begich takes lead over Stevens

Democrat Mark Begich has taken his first lead of the election over scandal-plagued Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) as absentee votes continue to be counted by Alaska elections officials.

With about 41,000 absentee votes tabulated today, Begich leads Stevens by a three-vote margin, 125,019 votes to 125,016. There are still about 50,000 outstanding absentee ballots left to be counted.

Stay tuned...

60 Democratic Senate seats not out of the question. It still appears that the Dems will obtain their 60 Senate seats for a veto proof majority. While I don't condone the absence of checks and balances in Congress, I can understand the frustration of all patriotic Americans with the Republicans. For 8 years the repigs have shut out the Dems and its time for some payback

Democrats now hold 58 Senate seats, when two independents who align with Democrats are included, with undecided races in Minnesota and Georgia.
