This sets up perfectly for the Gamecocks who will get a chance to avenge their 8-0 loss last Friday to Stanford. SC is looking to take the same path they took last year when they made it to the Championship game after losing their opener. In fact, it's almost scary how much this year's tourney resembles 2002. Check this out:
2002- SC gets shut out by GT 11-0 (First team in 50 years to be shutout in Omaha). SC wins game #2 11-10 over Nebraska. SC Avenges earlier shutout Loss by blasting Georgia Tech in the revenger. SC beats Clemson twice to advance to Championship game.
2003- SC is shut out 8-0 to Stanford in Game 1 (2nd shutout in 50 years, both by SC). SC wins 11-10 over LSU in game 2 (sound familiar?). SC gets revenge game with Stanford today, looking to avenge last Friday's shutout loss.
I don't think SC has the arms to beat Cal St Fullerton (twice), but experience from last year could give them a shot. First things first, they must beat Stanford today. I believe they will. Yes, I am a SC graduate, but I am just as likely to fade them as I am to play on them. Ask anyone who knows me.
