Today the National Sports Advisors look for #13 seed UNC Wilmington to represent themselves quite well in their second round matchup with #5 seed Indiana, and cover ATS if not win outright.
UNC Wilmington enters today's game with an overall record of 23-9. The Seahawks earned tonight's matchup with the Hoosiers by defeating #4 seed USC 93-89 in overtime on thursday. The win gave the seahawks their 5th straight win and 19th in their last 23 games. UNCW is bolstered by a scoring defense that finished first in it's conference and ranked 14th in the nation(60.8 ppg).
Indiana enters today's game with an overall record of 21-11, after defeating Utah 75-56 in it's first round NCAA matchup. The Hoosiers also play stellar defense, finishing second in the Big 10 allowing only 60.7 ppg. The Hoosiers are playing in their 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament, which is second to Arizona's current streak of 18 straight appearances.
So why UNC-WILMINGTON? Well, we feel that +9.5 points is a little too much. Indiana has not performed well when playing on 1 or less days of rest, as they are only 1-5 ATS this season and 6-21 ATS since 1997. The Seahawks are 6-4 on 1 or less days of rest, and also are an impressive 4-2 ATS as an underdog, 4-0 ATS on neutral courts, 8-3 ATS in non-conference games, and 9-6 ATS versus teams with winning records. The Hoosiers are just 9-14 ATS versus teams with winning records, and are 4-8 ATS versus teams with defenses that allow under 64 ppg. This game should be close throughout, with Indiana eventually making enough plays down the stretch to gain the outright win. However, take the points as we look for UNCW to cover.
