When I was reading through the picks today I did not feel good
about the plays I was picking and I did not think that the write
ups were that good.

You know what? I lost a bundle tonight and while I was making
the bets I had a feeling I would.

I am wondering if a person should stay away from the cappers
since many of them are busy thinking about Christmas shopping
and holiday prep.

It could be that they do not have the time to make decent picks
or write up thorough analysis.

Anyone have any experience from past Christmas seasons along
these lines that verify my suspicions?

Thanks, Undefeated77 8)

Bowl season is a crap shoot by most everyone's accounts.

Most of the teams never face each other so the pool of info to draw from is very light. Without historical data you are left trying to compare each teams performance of the current year. hardly the idea situation for big profits.

So I think you are right on with your assessment but I think that the reasons aren't distractions but rather slim pickins on the info front

I think I work just as hard during the Christmas season, but every year at this time, you have teams being eliminated from the playoffs that throw a kink into anyone's handicapping. My theory was to isolate on games that mean something, so that the teams would play up to expectations. You don't really know how a team is going to come out, after elimination. There could be some hidden reasons of why a team that was out of it, decided to upset a team needing a win to make the playoffs, or the quarterback slept with the opposing linebackers wife or something. The other reason that handicappers may drop off, is the fact that the NBA,NCAAB,Hockey,NFL, and bowlgames are all going on, and I'm leaving out horse racing. Some will get stretched to thin, to make the correct evaluation on a team, and fall below the Mendoza line. It is good to know the handicappers making the picks, just how many sports he or she is doing. I handicap football as my primary, and basketball as my secondary. There is no way I could take on more than that. If I was working, then I would have to leave the NBA alone, and just getting the information to cap the NFL would be a chore.
