Today, Bodog.com announced its latest addition to its product offerings with the unveiling of its football fantasy league.

Bodogfantasy.com, a custom-built, free and easy-to-use online fantasy football game, allows players (managers) to create their own lineup of NFL pros, and compete against thousands of others for $125,000 in prizes.

“We have seen an incredible rise in the popularity of fantasy sports in recent years,” says Calvin Ayre, Founder and CEO of Bodog.com. “To the point where networks are showing NFL players’ fantasy stats as well as team stats at halftime. In some cases, networks run a fantasy scoreboard at the bottom of their screens.”

Whether playing in a private league with friends or competing against the thousands of other fantasy thrill-seekers, “managers” will have a chance to draft a new team of 12 football players each week. The “managers” who accumulate the most points after the week’s games will be eligible for t he $8,000 in weekly prizes.

Points are awarded to “managers” each week based on the combined statistics of their players, such as touchdowns, yards gained and passer rating. Other factors, such as the football players’ performances from previous weeks and the strength of opposing teams are used in assessing the points.

Top point earners are awarded a host of prizes, including: Ipod minis, leather reclining chairs, autographed Mike Ditka footballs, custom poker chip sets, and the grand prize – a $10,000 complete digital entertainment set, featuring a big-screen plasma television.

“Our custom-made game was wonderfully designed to offer fantasy football rookies and veterans alike an opportunity to experience the thrill of competing in a weekly fantasy league. This product is easy-to-use, fun and costs nothing. This is yet another innovative and progressive step we are taking as we strive to become a 21 st century entertainment powerhouse,” Ayre says.

Last year, an estimated 15 million people played fantasy football, according to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association.
