Michaels has made many comments in the past with respect to the total or spread.
A game could be out of reach and the winning team will make a seemingly meaningless score. Michaels used to say to Frank,"Did you hear the cheering in the pressbox? Those guys had the over. (Or) Does that cover the posted spread?"
Michaels is actually quite the Pony guy.
I get Playboy and this latest issue there is an interview with him in there. He says that he used to go to the track while still a child and cap races with his Mother.
So our friend Al is very aware of what the line on the game is going into the booth I am sure.
It's a good read, Michaels is a character. Worth using it as an excuse to pick up a nudie mag for sure.
