Arkansas St. +37

Virginia Tech, known for its defense, looks to replace the top 5 tacklers from 2001. Along with that, they lose DB Ronyell Whitaker and DE Lamar Cobb because of suspensions. OLB Mike Daniels is questionable with a hamstring. This will be a unit on the field that hasn’t played together and won’t be as dominant as past editions. They will face senior QB Tommy Miller, who only has 3 starts under his belt. The biggest playmaker is WR/KR James Hickenbotham, who has the potential to make a few big plays. In all, the Indians return 17 starters on both sides of the ball and look to improve on their 2-9 record from last year. New coach Steve Roberts brings in a new attitude and a positive outlook. A game the Indians won’t win, but a good test to utilize their new offensive and defensive schemes.

Look for Virginia Tech to keep it simple, and use this as a tune up for LSU next week. It is also a good opportunity to get the players some work together. With TB’s Suggs and Jones in the backfield, expect the Hokies to run the majority of the time. QB Noel will play with a banged up knee and he will be looking to find new receivers to throw to. The 37 points will be too big of a number to cover.

GLTA!
