It's not often that Cornell plays 2 huge games in mid Feb. In hockey yes, but the hoops squad is usually dead and buried by now. The Red are playing at home for the first time in a month and return home sporting a 6-1 Ivy League mark and are in first place. What a weekend for them as they play Princeton tonight and Penn on Sat night, two teams that have owned them over the last 10 years. Both games are sold out ( a rarity ) and the hockey squad is also home both nights and their building adjoins the hoops facility, so the athletic complex will be a zoo this weekend. I will be there both nights to take part in the festivities with my buddy who is a Cornell alum.

The thing that is different this year is that The Big Red has the horses to win both of these games. They have the league's leading scorer and highest scoring offense. They also have a young coach and highly regarded group of recruits that are playing well. A lot of folks will tend to look at these games and say same old, same old, Cornell loses both. I think things will be different this year, and winning these two games will go a long way toward a possible league title for Cornell. I have been riding The Red all year with good results and will continue to back them this weekend.

"The more things change, the more they stay the same." Princeton game was close, Quakers clobbered 'em on Sat. Oh well, at least I got my wife to go to a basketball game on Valentine's Day.
