Something amazing has occurred over the past week that we haven't seen in several years... out of nowhere, it appears that the Milwaukee Bucks have learned how to play *gasp* DEFENSE... That's right, the Bucks have now won five straight games overall both SU and ATS, due to a defense that has held their last five opponents to just 88.4 points per contest... considering that Milwaukee has long been known as the little defense that couldn't, the turnaround is certainly welcome, if not long overdue... Now, the Bucks look to continue their solid play against a Boston Celtics team that is hoping they are back on track after back-to-back wins... But while the Celts have now won two straight games, reaching win number three has proven to be difficult for Paul Pierce and company, as they have lost their last four attempts at a three game winning streak both SU and ATS... Considering tonight's effort is coming against a Milwaukee team that has owned Boston over the past several seasons, we have a very difficult time seeing the Celts erasing that pattern this evening...

In the last ten games between these two teams, the Celtics have emerged victorious just twice, with both those wins coming at home... in their six trips to Milwaukee since March 2000, Boston has lost all six times by a minimum of five points, and an average of 12.5 ppg (including losses in each of their last two games by 19 points apiece)... the biggest concern for Boston has been what has plagued the Bucks for so long - a lack of defense - as the Bucks have scored at least 104 points in each of their last five home games against the Celts, while holding Boston to 99 points or less in each contest, and an average of just 92.3 ppg in their last six trips to Milwaukee... this lack of scoring is not too unfamiliar to Boston, as the Celtics haven't scored more than 95 points on the road in any of their last nine contests, and have averaged a paltry 84.6 ppg in that time...

Boston's 8-10 road record is deceiving in the fact that they are a horrid 1-6 SU in their last seven road games after starting the season with a solid 7-4 road mark... meanwhile, the Bucks have covered at a 4-1-1 ATS rate in their last six games as a single-digit home favorite, and have historically crushed the Celtics in this situation... with the Celts struggling on offense, the Bucks playing solid D, and Milwaukee's past offensive explosions at home against the Celtics, we see no reason not to back the Bucks here...

FINAL PREDICTION: MILWAUKEE 103, BOSTON 92

Home favorites of 6 points or less after covering the spread in 5 or more consecutive games are 17-46 ATS...

I will stay away from this one.
