Awful in bases on Wednesday! -710, +3781 YTD.....
Thursday's Big Card:
NBA:
5* SAN ANTONIO SPURS -3 -120 (Betcom)
2* SA Spurs (1st half) -2 +100
NHL:
3* ANAHEIM MIGHTY DUCKS ml +155
MLB:
3* Philly Phillies -1.5 -105
3* Montreal Expos ml +115
1* Seattle Mariners ml -110
1* Houston Astros ml +185
NBA analysis:
I was hoping for this setup for the Spurs. The road team is now 4-1 SU & ATS in the series. Line value and bounceback motivation both favor the Spurs in this one. The Spurs were embarassed in the 4th quarter of game 5 at home. They have been very solid on the road during the playoffs. They have also been $ in the 1st half, and Dallas struggles in the first half. Look for the Spurs to DOMINATE this game from the opening tip, and finish things in the 4th quarter, similar to game 6 @ Lakers.
Summary: This one sets up beautifully for The Hook, and we will hammer the Book. I bought the 1/2 pt again for my sanity, as I can't stand losing by the Hook........
NHL analysis:
I will have the Ducks as a play on my card Thursday, and here is why:
I backed NJ in Game 7 (Eastern Conference Finals) vs Ottawa for these reasons:
1) Ottawa had won 2 straight, and Brodeur is one of the best to rebound after a loss.
2) Brodeur was dealing with the divorce situation, and the a road game was exactly what he needed to focus.
3) Ottawa had won a game as an underdog, and played the next game as a favorite (Hook sports psychology 101=fade)
4) The World was on Ottawa. I could find very few people that liked the Devils in this game. Icing on the cake!
I also backed NJ in game 1 (-1.5 +210!) of the Finals for the following reasons:
1) Anaheim layoff was too long. They were too rested and lost that playoff edge.
2) This was the NHL Finals. The atmosphere was something that was totally new to this upstart Anaheim team. Different level of pressure. The Devils had been there.
3) The WORLD was on Anaheim! I could not find anyone willing to take the Devils ml -165 or -1.5 +200. That makes it a cinch in my world.
WHY I LIKE ANAHEIM IN GAME #2:
1) Now everyone has seen, written, read, and talked about all of the above.
2) Anaheim will be focused, and NJ will have a letdown emotionally. Psychological edge is totally with the Ducks in game 2. Don't be fooled about home ice in the playoffs, it can be more (negative) pressure than it is an advantage.
3) Anaheim will adjust to NJ's style of play, and let it rip. There is no pressure on this team. That is why they had success against Detroit, Dallas, and Minnesota.
Summary: It's time for NJ and Brodeur to stump their foot, and they will on Thursday night.
ANAHEIM MIGHTY DUCKS MONEYLINE +155

+306 Thursday, +4087 YTD.........
Wow! I posted my "disgusted" post above and headed for bed about 11:10 EST. The score was Dallas 71, SA 58. I left the TV on, and faded off to sleep. I was then awakened by a sound that I thought had to be a dream. It was a flash back to 10 years ago.......
"Kerr for 3.......YES!" (Marv Albert)
"Kerr for 3.......YES!" (Marv Albert)
"Kerr for 3.......YES!" (Marv Albert)
"Kerr for 3.......YES!" (Marv Albert)
"Steve Kerr has taken over here off the bench......."
I could not believe my eyes as I watched the Spurs cap off a 32-7 run to finish the game.
