8/8 Play: STEELERS -5, -110
Reason: This is the first exhibition game in which there is an actual home field advantage. You can bet that the Pittsburgh fans will be fired up in anticipation of seeing the 2002-2003 Steelers in live competition. Their opponents will be the NY Jets, who Pittsburgh has owned in the last couple of meetings. Tonights games figures to be a battle of the back-ups, as both teams will play their starters for no more than 2 series. This figures to favor Pittsburgh in nearly every catagory, beginning with the offensive line. NY's offensive line is in utter shambles. John Fabini who will start at LT is the only member from last years unit who will play tonight. Lining up next to Fabini at LG will be rookie Jonathen Goodwin a converted tackle. The starting center will be JP Machado, who has never started a game at center in his career. Lining up next to Machado at RG will be Dan Goodspeed, who has never played in an NFL game. The line is rounded out by Kareem McKenzie at RT. Compounding the problem for NY is the fact that Pittsburgh runs a 3-4 defense in comparison to 4-3 schemes the Jets O-line has been facing in training camp. Would you feel comfortable at QB tonight? Didn't think so. Our research shows that the Steelers have more depth at WR, QB, LB,OL, and DL. Both coaches have admitted that they did not game-plan for this tilt, in order to keep it simple and let the players play. We can't find any part of the Jets that is currently better than any part of the Steelers. We think the Steelers will win this one easily, something like 24-10. Good Luck.
