Today in the Daily Sports Roundup: The Heat take on the Magic, the lowly Nets play in Portland, and the Blackhawks and Sharks meet on the ice in San Jose.

Tipping off on the hardwood . . .

There are a dozen games on the NBA schedule for Wednesday, including Miami at Orlando. The Heat (8-5 SU, 6-7 ATS) are coming off a 102-101 home win over the Hornets last time out, with Dwyane Wade pouring in 31 points and Michael Beasley adding 17 points. The Magic (11-3 SU, 9-5 ATS) won 104-96 in Toronto on Sunday, as Vince Carter scored a team-high 24 points against his old team. Dwight Howard tossed in 17 points and added 12 rebounds in Sunday's victory.

Also on the NBA slate for Wednesday: Toronto at Charlotte, the Clippers at Indiana, Philadelphia at Boston, Cleveland at Detroit, Denver at Minnesota, Milwaukee at New Orleans, Dallas at Houston, Golden State at San Antonio, Memphis at Phoenix, New York at Sacramento, and New Jersey at Portland. The Trail Blazers (11-5 SU, 10-6 ATS) bounced Chicago 122-98 in their last game on Monday night, as Greg Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge both poured in 24 points.

The Maui Invitational and Cancun Challenge both continue on the college hoops hardwood on Wednesday, as does the Preseason NIT. It's LSU vs. No. 13 Connecticut in one of the semi-final matchups of that latter event, while Arizona State takes on No. 7 Duke in the other game at Madison Square Garden. The Blue Devils (4-0 SU, 2-1 ATS) are coming off an easy 104-67 win over Radford in their game on Saturday, with Nolan Smith picking up 20 points and seven assists.

Taking a trip around the rink . . .

As well, almost every NHL team is in action on Wednesday, with the league offering up 14 contests. The marquee matchup will happen late on the west coast, with Chicago at San Jose. The 15-5-2 Blackhawks edged Vancouver 1-0 in their last game on Sunday, with Bryan Bickell providing the game's only marker. Antti Niemi stopped all 30 Canucks shots in the win. The 16-5-4 Sharks beat the Ducks 3-2 on Saturday, with Dany Heatley scoring his 18th of the year.

Elsewhere on the ice on Wednesday it's Ottawa at New Jersey, Philadelphia at the Islanders, Buffalo at Washington, Toronto at Tampa Bay, Atlanta at Detroit, the Rangers at Florida, Montreal at Pittsburgh, Boston at Minnesota, St. Louis at Dallas, Nashville at Colorado, Los Angeles at Edmonton, Phoenix at Calgary, and Carolina at Anaheim. The Ducks got past the Flames 3-2 in a shootout in their last matchup on Monday, with Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf both scoring.
