Radke (4-2, 5.23 ERA) has not pitched since May 30, when he lasted just one out in a 7-6 win over Anaheim. In the outing, Radke aggravated a groin injury just hours after being activated off the disabled list.
Radke is 7-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 20 career appearances against Kansas City. He is 1-1 with two no-decisions in four starts against them this season.
The Royals counter with Paul Byrd (14-7, 3.49), who pitched a five-hitter in a 4-1 victory over Toronto on Monday.
Byrd is 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA in three career starts against Minnesota. He is 2-0 in two starts this season, including a 16-3 victory over Radke on April 17.
