Today the National Sports Advisors look for the Utah Jazz to continue their dominance in recent years over the Clippers, and deal the Clippers a severe blow to their playoff hopes.
Utah enters tonight's game with an overall record of 40-32, including 16-19 on the road. The Jazz are currently holding onto the #8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs race, just 3.5 games ahead of the Clippers. The Jazz will be looking to improve their winning streak over the Clippers to 13 straight tonight. The Clippers have not defeated the Jazz since March 27, 1999, 103-77. They were swept the last two seasons and dropped the first two meetings this campaign, 106-101 at the Delta Center on November 23 and 102-86 here on December 7.
The Clippers enter tonight's matchup with a record 37-36, including 23-13 at home. The Clippers picked up a "must" win last night at Phoenix, when Jeff McInnis hit a jumper inside the arc at the buzzer to give the Clippers a 96-94 victory. The win snapped a three game losing streak, and it was just LA's third win in their last eight games.
So why UTAH? Well, how can you argue with 12 straight wins? Granted, all good things must eventually come to an end, but we don't look for that tonight. Utah is a veteran team that has played in numerous big games before. This is LA's biggest home game in years, and they are very young. Utah has a been outrebounding opponents by 8 rebounds per game in their last 5 games, and they play much better defense than the Clippers. In playoff games, like this one should have the feel and intensity of, the team that plays the better defense usually has a much greater chance of winning the game. With the Jazz dominating this series over the last three years, and the Clippers being young, playing on back-to-back nights, and being only 6-10 ATS on zero days rest, we look for the Jazz to get it done tonight.
