Boston (Castillo) @ Seattle (Pineiro)

Well the musical pitchers game the Rangers played yesterday caused a no play.

Your not going to get the Mariners at this low a price at home very often and I am going to get on it! The Red Sox are kicking butt since they got rid of that bum Jimmy Williams (who is now in Houston ruining them) but are coming off of a sweep of the A's and I see a little let down against a Mariners team that loves right handed pitchers especially this one.

Boston sends Frank Castillo to the hill who is 2-2 on the year with an ERA of 3.25 and a WHIP of 0.861 in 6 starts. He has faced the Mariners 5 times with his teams losing all of them and he has an ERA of 11.14 and a WHIP of 2.190 in those starts.

The Mariners counter with Joel Pineiro who got roughed up a bit in his last start he is 1-0 in 2 starts for the year with an ERA of 5.62 and a WHIP of 1.875 both starts coming on the road. I look for that to change here in the friendly confines of Safeco.

The Boston offense has been very solid especially on the road where they are averaging 6.3 runs a game batting .308 as a team against right handed starters with an on base percentage of .408.

The Mariners have not been shy about scoring runs either especially against right handed starters averaging 6 runs a game batting .281 as a team against them with an on base percentage of .400.

The Red Sox bullpen has been a little shaky in their last 3 games with an ERA of 5.59, defensively they are playing well allowing the opposition to bat .206 with an on base percentage of .268 while giving up just 3.1 runs a game but have been error prone with 23 on the road.

The Seattle bullpen has been solid at home with an ERA of 2.89 and a WHIP of 1.214 while the defense has been allowing the other team to bat .262 with an on base percentage of .345 while scoring 4.6 runs a game on average.

I like our chances here with the Mariners against a pitcher they have had no trouble hitting and scoring against, while I look for Pineiro to pitch a little better at home where he did well last year. I would bet the over but I never bet totals without knowing the home plate umpire! So I will take my chances with the Mariners at home against a Boston team fresh off sweep!

Playing Seattle -138
