Minnesota (Milton) @ Seattle (Baldwin)
Going to back the home team here today as both pitchers have struggled against their opponents but I believe that Baldwin is in much better form recently.
The Twins send out Eric Milton to the mound who has never won against the Mariners and has really struggled in Seattle in 7 lifetime starts against the Mariners he has an inflated ERA of 10.97 and a WHIP of 2.156. He is 9-6 on the year with an ERA of 5.25 and a WHIP of 1.250, in his last 3 starts he has gone 1-1 with an ERA of 4.32.
Seattle counters with James Baldwin who has sort of been a Jekyll and Hyde when he is on he is as solid as anyone but when he is off Katie bar the door. He is 6-6 on the year with an ERA of 4.55 and a WHIP of 1.454, but he is in much better form in his last 3 starts going 2-0 with an ERA of 2.50 and a WHIP of 1.50, He is 5-4 against the Twins with an ERA of 4.56.
The Twins offense is averaging 4.5 runs a game on the road and are batting .260 as a team while giving up 4.6. The bullpen has been really worked lately and it is showing with an ERA of 4.50 in their last 3 games.
The Mariners offense is having no trouble at all against left-handed starters lately batting .391 as a team against them in their last 10 games, they are managing 5.9 runs a game against them on the year while holding their opposition to just 3.7 and have committed just 45 errors on the year. The bullpen has been solid as usual with an ERA of 2.91 and a WHIP of 1.134.
Home Plate umpire Doug Eddings favors the home team slightly with them going 10-7 when he makes the calls, with home favorites managing a 6-4 record. He has called 5 overs against 11 unders with an average of 7.35 runs a game and a strike out to walk ratio of 2.54.
Bottom line is that both pitchers have had trouble against their respective opponents with Milton having the harder time and Baldwin is in better form in his last few starts with the stronger offense and bullpen backing him up so I will lay yhe low price in my opinion on the better team.
