Five Things You Need to Know in Sports

Want to start your sports day off right? Looking for some action and the most exciting matchups of the day? There is one college football games on national TV and could be two key baseball playoff games along with NBA preseason action. Here are the top matchups of the day along with future odds.

1)Navy at Central Michigan, Kelly/Shorts Stadium, Mt. Pleasant, Mich

The Mids are coming off a 28-21 overtime win over Air Force on the road, while Central Michigan lost at Toledo, 50-35.The Navy defense forced three turnovers in the first half and their offense finally picked up with freshman quarterback Keenan Reynolds, who is 10-of-13 on the year as a passer. Central Michigan (2-3) can score but they have one of the worst defenses in all of college football as they allow 457 yards and nearly 41 points per game. Central Michigan is 0-5 ATS L5 home games. Central Michigan is a 2-point favorite with a total of 60.

2)Baltimore at NY Yankees, Yankee Stadium

If this series goes to a Game 5, the Yankees will send their ace C.C. Sabathia to the mound against one of the Orioles' best pitchers in Jason Hammel. Sabathia (16-6, 3.32 ERA) won the first game of the series 3-2, going 8 2/3 IP. Hammel is 8-6 with a 3.42 ERA this year and went 5 2/3 IP in Game 1, allowing just 2 runs. Yankees are 13-3 last 16 with Sabathia as the starter vs. Baltimore. .

3)St. Louis at Washington, Nationals Park

If this series goes five (only if Washington wins on Thursday), Washington will send their ace Gio Gonzalez against Adam Wainright. Gonzalez is 21-8 with a 2.91 ERA. He struggled in Game 1, walking seven batters, but the Nats won 2-1. Wainright had 10 strikeouts in Game 1, but the Cards' bullpen lost the game. Wainright is 14-13 with a 3.88 ERA this year. The OVER is 13-3 last 16 in series.

4)NBA Preseason Continues with seven games

The Friday schedule is highlighted by New Orleans at Houston at 8pm. Rookie Anthony Davis starts at center for the Hornets. Davis had 22 points and nine boards against the Bobcats on Tuesday, which was much better than the 8 points he dropped in his first game against Orlando in Mexico City on October 7. Another intriguing contest would be Portland at Phoenix on CSNN. Rookie Damian Lillard of Portland goes up against Goran Dragic, the new starter from Phoenix.

5)Odds to win the 2012-13 Men's NCAA Basketball Championship

College basketball practice tips-off on Friday with Midnight Madness. Kentucky is once again the favorite to win the Championship despite losing all their key players. Indiana is the second favorite, followed by Louisville and UCLA.
