Five Things You Need to Know

Need an appetizer before the big meal? How about two sizzling college football games on a Friday night to whet your appetite before a few NBA preseason games. Here are the top matchups of the night along with future odds.

1)Cincnnati (5-1) at Louisville (7-0), Papa John's Cardinal Stadium

This is a huge Big East matchup also called the“Battle for the Keg of Nails". Last week, Cincinnati lost to Toledo, 29-23, while Louisville is coming off a 27-25 home win over South Florida. Last year: CINCINNATI (-13.5) over Louisville, 25-16. The Bearcats lead the Big East in rushing, anchored by George Win, who has 607 rushing yards. QB Munchie Legaux (6ypg) leads an offense that averages 467.5ypg. The Cardinals can also lean on quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who leads the league in passer rating (165.2) and ranks 3rd in the nation in completion percentage (73.4). Cincinnati is 3-1 ATS L4 ins series. Louisville is a 3.5-point favorite with a total of 52.

2)Nevada (6-2) at Air Force (4-3), Falcon Stadium, Colorado Springs, Col

Nevada is coming off a 39-38 home loss to San Diego State, laying 7. Air Force is coming off a 28-23 win over New Mexico, but didn't cover the 10.5 This is the first meeting for the first time ever on the football field. Both teams are tied for second place in the MWC standings with Fresno State and San Diego State at 3-1. The Falcons have to deal with the loss of Cody Getz who entered the week ranked second in the nation in rushing. He is considered doubtful to play. Nevada is 4-0 ATS L4 Friday games. Nevada is a 3.5-point favorite with a total of 66.

3)NBA Preseason: New Orleans (2-4) at Miami (4-3)

The "Deuce" offers it's first NBA doubleheader, even though it doesn't count. The country will have a chance to see rookie big man Anthony Davis, who will meet LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. The Hornets will be an improved team with the long-armed Davis patrolling the paint, but they will be offensively-challenged. It will be interesting to see if Wade or James challenged Davis at the rim.

4)NBA Preseason: Denver (3-2) at Phoenix (3-3)

Denver could surprise in the West. They have a lot of talent led by PG Ty Lawson and F Danilo Galliniari. They traded for Andre Iguodala, to give them a great athlete in the backcourt. He should fit the Western Conference style of play better than the East. Phoenix is rebuilding with Goran Dragic taking over for Steve Nash at the point. The additions of Luis Scola and Michael Beasley should help.
