As posted on our website yesterday.....
Anaheim @ San Francisco 8:15 PM EST
Anaheim +1.5 runs (-160) over San Francisco (5 Units)
Anaheim/San Francisco Under 9 (4.5 Units)
What a terrific World Series this has been thus far... already, we've had two games decided by just one run, and we expect nothing different in Game 3, as Ramon Ortiz goes up against Livan Hernandez in what should a low-scoring contest...
We all know about Livan Hernandez and his postseason success, and that success should continue as not only has Hernandez allowed just 5 runs in his last 23.2 innings, and just 2 runs in 7 innings in his only career start against the Angels, which the Giants ended up winning in extra innings by one run...
Winning by one run is certainly nothing new for either one of these teams, as San Fran's last five games have all been decided by one run, and six of Anaheim's last seven losses have been by just a solitary run... additionally, eight of the last nine games between the Angels and San Francisco have been decided by just one, making us believe that this is much more than just coincidence... these are two very evenly matched teams, and the results are games that remain tight whether they are high-scoring or whether offense is at a premium...
With Ramon Ortiz taking the mound, we expect it to be the latter in Game 3, as Ortiz has allowed just 7 runs in his last 25.1 innings on the road, and the Angels are 9-3 in Ortiz's last 12 starts, with all three losses coming by (you guessed it) just one run...
Additionally, with Tim Tschida behind the plate in this contest, the odds of a low-scoring Anaheim win increase exponentially... not only are the Angels a perfect 10-0 in the last ten games that Tschida has umped, but Ramon Ortiz has been incredibly effective when Tschida calls the balls and strikes... in two Ortiz starts in this situation, the Angels won both games by scores of 4-2 and 4-1... and in four Anaheim road games, their opponents have scored just a combined SIX runs...
The Under has been perfect in Giants games with Tschida behind home plate, and four of those games happened to have Livan Hernandez as the starter... a big reason for these Unders have been due to the Giants getting the squeeze, as they have scored just TWO runs in their last three games combined... Hernandez has actually been hit pretty hard in two of those starts, as San Fran has split the four games he has started with Tschida overseeing... additionally, the Under is 5-1 in the last six games these two teams have played in San Francisco...
We actually like the Angels to win this game straight up, but will opt for Anaheim on the runline... for if they are to lose this game, we see very little chance of them doing so by more than one run.... therefore, take the Angels on the runline for the surer play, and combine it with the Under for two terrific plays...
FINAL PREDICTION: ANGELS 2, GIANTS 1
Nice write-up, but why post a minute before the game goes off?
Sorry about that!
We decided to make this a free pick at the last minute, and unfortunately this was one of the last sites on our list... hope it helped someone!
