The Florida State Seminoles were able to finally get back on track last week against Wake Forest, but it certainly wasn't easy, as FSU was only able to nab the cover by taking on a final touchdown in the final two minutes of the game against the Deacons... Florida State trailed throughout the majority of that game, and are very lucky not to be 0-3 SU in their last three road games... with running back Greg Jones out for the year and a defense that is showing holes by allowing 21+ points in each of their last five games, there's no possible way we can support FSU as a seven-point road favorite, especially against a team as solid as Georgia Tech...
As we predicted last week, Georgia Tech ruined N.C. State's undefeated season with a SU win, and we believe that the Yellow Jackets can pull the second straight "upset" at home against the Seminoles... we place the word upset in quotes, because honestly speaking, Georgia Tech at home against a weakened Florida State team is really nothing more than a pick 'em game, as Georgia Tech is the equal of Bobby Bowden's squad this year... GT has allowed just 32 points in their last two games, and on the season are allowing just 15.2 ppg at home... and while the Yellow Jackets may have three losses on their record, two of those three defeats have come by five points or less... getting a touchdown with a team that plays everyone tough AND is at home is nothing short of a gift, for even if Florida State wins this contest, Georgia Tech should be able to stay within a touchdown...
Tech has scored at least 21 points in five of their last six games (recall that FSU has allowed 21+ in L5), while allowing just 15.3 ppg at home to the oppositions... and yet, we also get a touchdown on top of this... works for us, as Georgia Tech is 11-3 ATS in their last fourteen games as a single-digit dog, and a terrific 6-1 ATS after a SU dog win...
The last time FSU came into town, they did so as a 23 point favorite, and barely escaped with a five point victory... this time around, Florida State will not be as lucky, as Georgia Tech takes down Florida State and tarnishes their reputation even further this year...
