Five Things You Need to Know in Sports

Want to start your sports week off right? Looking for some action and the most exciting matchups of the day? The NFL is on tap tonight along with four key baseball games. Here is a brief look at the top five important matchups of the day.

1)Green Bay at Seattle, 8:35pmET, CenturyLink Field

The Green Bay Packers are looking to go 2-1 after defeating the Chicago Bears last Thursday, 23-10. They have a few days extra rest but that may not bother Seattle, who is a playing a rare game on Monday night after defeating Dallas, 27-7 last week. This is the first big game for rookie QB Russell Wilson. Green Bay is 23-10 ATS L23 overall.. Green Bay is a 3-point favorite with a total of 44.

2)Milwaukee at Washington, Marco Estrada (4-6, 3.56 ERA) vs. Jordan Zimmerman (11-8, 2.96 ERA)

The Brewers won 2 of the first 3 but are still 2.5 games behind St. Louis for the final wild card spot. Washington needs this game to go back up 5 games in the NL East since Atlanta is off on Monday. Zimmerman will need a strong start against Estrada. Washington is 4-17 Under last 21 Monday games. Washington opened up as a -140 favorite with a total of 8.

3)Toronto at Baltimore doubleheader, 4pmET and 7pmET. Game 1 Henderson Alvarez vs. Steve Johnson; Game 2 Ricky Romero vs. Bruce Chen

The Orioles had a six- game winning streak halted by the Red Sox yesterday (2-1 loss), but they are still right in the thick of things in the AL East. With a Yankees loss to Oakland, Baltimore is just one game behind New York and 3.5 games up on the Angels for the top wild card spot. Baltimore is 18-6 last 24 home games. .Baltimore opened as a -205 favorite with an 8.5-run total in Game 1, while they are opened as a -215 favorite with a total of 9 in Game 2.

4)Oakland at Texas, Dan Straily (2-1, 4.13 ERA) vs. Derek Holland (11-6, 4.42 ERA)

Oakland is 4 games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West, so this is likely their last chance to win the division. Most likely, they'll be a wild card team but that isn't a lock as Baltimore is one game up and the Angels are 2.5 games behind the A's for the final wild card spot. Texas is 18-8 last 26 in this series. Texas has opened as a -175 favorite with a total of 9.5.
