Notre Dame is perhaps the most storied program in college football, a team that played up to its championship history in a resurgent season that has it on the cusp of another title. Earning it will require knocking off defending BCS champion Alabama, another tradition-rich team that's back to dominating the sport the way the Fighting Irish also once did. Last year: (1/4/12) CINCINNATI (-8.5) over Notre Dame. This game was moved a tad earlier so that Mike Brey, his team and fans could watch the football team play Alabama later tonight. Ironically, Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly came from Cincinnati. Notre Dame is one of the nation's hottest teams while averaging 79.5 points and shooting 53.5 percent during its 11-game winning streak. The Irish opened Big East play by shooting 56.5 percent and setting a season high for points in Saturday's 93-74 rout of Seton Hall. Sixth-year senior Scott Martin went 6 of 7 from 3-point range to finish with a season-high 22 points, Jack Cooley had 19 with 13 rebounds and Eric Atkins added 17 with 10 assists..Cincinnati is coming off a 53-52 home loss to St. John's on Saturday, laying 13.5. The NBA is in great shape when these teams are playing well. Boston isn't completely on their game, but they are close. They have won two straight including a 89-81 road win over Atlanta on Saturday, getting 5.5. As for the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony is playing like an MVP candidate and the Knicks are also off two straight wins, beating Orlando on Saturday, 114-106 on the road and impressively routing San Antonio, 100-83 at home, getting 1. Melo had 40 against Orlando, including 16 in the fourth quarter. Boston's Paul Pierce averaged 35.7 points against New York for his highest mark against any opponent in 2011-12 while Rajon Rondo averaged 17.3 points, 13.3 assists and 8.3 rebounds.
