2004 NCAA FB plays posted here 21-10

Mia,O -5 vs Toledo

I look for these MAC games playing to a national audience on weeknights. The home team in these games ( particularly The Redhawks ) do VERY WELL. This Redhawk team has a different look to it since Big Ben left, but still can score ( 40 + at home ) and run the ball and defend the run ( 1.5 ypc at home ). The Rockets have a truly prolific offense that can score against anyone, and they have really geared it up in recent games.Their defense is still horrible and I see Mia running the ball on long drives and keeping the Toledo offense on the sidelines. I will try Mia,O here as they are strong on both sides of the ball as compared to The Rockets being strong on just one side, coupled with the fact that the home field advantage will be big for Mia tonight in front of a national TV viewing audience.

Thurs 11/4

Memphis +14 vs Louisville

The Cards are a very good team but in amassing an impressive stat sheet, really haven't beaten anyone good. Their close call at Mia, Fla has lost a little of it's luster after the Canes loss at Chapel Hill last week. The Tigers have been inconsistent and have been beaten by some marginal teams this year. Memphis beat L'Ville by 30 at their place last year and play at home this year as a a 14 pt dog ? I don't get it. At home this year The Tiger ground attack is averaging 6 ypc while only allowing 2 ypc, a whopping 4 yd difference. I'll take the home team who can run and defend the run, getting 2 TD's against a team they know they can beat.

Sat plays to come.

Sat 11/6

Vanderbilt +13 vs Florida

This seems like a nice spot to take Vandy as a home dog. After losing their head coach and emotional loss to Georgia last week, I'm not sure the Gators will have much left in their tank for this road game in nashville. The Commodores will be outmatched talentwise in this game, but with a team loaded with experienced starters they have been competetitive and have a winning record ATS this season. This will be a good spot for Vandy to show up and play tough and perhaps even walk away with a rare SEC SU victory.

Tues/Thurs winners bring 2004 record to 23-10

Sat 11/6

Oklahoma -12 vs Tex A&M

I just think these 2 teams are worlds apart. Despite the revenge factor here, I think the Aggie kids have to be thinking how in the world they are going do beat a team that dominated them last year by epic proportions, when they can't even beat Baylor. A&M was really dominated through the late part of their schedule last season. HC Stoops has a long memeory and I think he still remembers the loss at College Station in 2002. No late season letdown for the Sooners this year as Stoops drives his troops toward the BCS national title game.

Iowa St +5' vs Nebraska

Nebraska has proven to be just another team under Bill Callahan, and no longer dominant. In last weeks win vs Mizzou the Huskers were 1-15 on 3rd down, and completed 4 passes. The Cyclones are 4-4 both SU and ATS and are very cpapble of winning outright here. The Cyclone D has held opponents to less than 3 ypc at home, while the once vaunted Husker rushing game has been held to less than 3 ypc on the road. If the Cyclone D holds here and the Huskers are forced into a new passing game they have yet to grasp, they will be in trouble. After years of domination in Big 12 games, I think the Iowa St home crowd would like nothing better than to see the Big red go down. Cyclones plus the points here.
