NCAA Football POWER SYSTEM

This week's FREE NCAA Football POWER SYSTEM is from Section 1 of the 2006 NCAA Football POWER SYSTEM e-CYCLOPEDIA, which deals exclusively with season openers.

PS1-11 (4 STAR) - In Game 1, play ON a road underdog 14 or less points before a conference home contest in its next game vs. an opponent playing its first game.

12-3 SU (+4.4 ppg) 14-0-1 ATS (+12.0 ppg)

Road underdogs of 2 TDs or less have used their first game of the season as a good tune-up before a conference home game. In this price range, the road dogs have been overlooked by the wagering public, but they have been very competitive. Perhaps the bettors have assumed that these road teams would be looking ahead to conference play. In fact, it's been the opposite. Despite being an underdog of up to 2 TDs, these visitors have 12 of the 15 qualifying games SU, and have gone 14-0-1 ATS since 1992, beating the spread by 12 points a game on average. Last year in season openers, both Georgia Tech and Air Force were small road underdogs with a conference home games next on the schedule. Both the Yellow Jackets and Falcons were victorious.

This week, Western Michigan plays at Indiana before returning home to host MAC foe, Toledo. The Broncos are nearly a TD underdog against the Hoosiers, qualifying them as a Play ON for this PRO INFO SPORTS NCAA Football POWER SYSTEM.
