YTD 2-1

Early play :

Northwestern -2 vs Arizona State
The Wildcats have become a solid ATS investment. After going 9-4 ATS last year they opened this season with a tough OT loss to a good TCU team in Fort Worth. NW returns 8 starters on offense including an experienced QB and all 5 O lineman. The Sun Devils opened their season with an easy home win over an outmanned UTEP squad but will find the going much tougher this Sat. Arizona St was a dismal 2-9 ATS last year that included an 0-6 ATS road record. I really like the Wildcats here with what seems like a reasonable number.

Temple +27 at Maryland

The Owls play here in an ATS role where they seem to flourish.......as a large road dog. I can recall them playing some tough road games in the past few years at Va Tech, Miami and Penn St and doing very well at covering vs the big number. Temple is 17-11 in their last 18 as a road dog, and 7-3 as a dog > 20. With only 8 starters returning this is easily the least experienced squad since Big Ralph took over the Terps. Maryland struggled to beat No Ill last week even though they were at home and in a revenge mode. Temples loss to Va was not as lopsided as the final score would indicate. I'll try the Owls here to once again play tough as a large road underdog.

Boston College +3 vs Penn St

The public seems to be all over Penn St in this one. I think the wrong team is favored here and I will gladly take the points. Penn St was 3-9 last year and in it's last 10 has beaten only Kent St ,Indiana, and last weeks home thrashing of the juggernaut that is the Akron Zips. Let's face facts, The Nittany Lions are a program on the decline.BC finished last season strong with wins at Va Tech and vs Colo St in a Bowl game. BC won 8 games last year and has won at least 7 in their last 5 seasons. That would indicate a strong program to me that has no business being a home underdog to these guys. I'll go against the grain and take The Golden Eagles plus the points here.

Sat NCAA recap :

Northwestern -2 loser
I'm very surprised this game lost as it was my favorite play of the day. cats moved the ball well but looked awful on D and couldn't stop the Devils when it counted.

Temple +27 winner
Down 28 zip at the half this one didn't look good. I'm guessing the Terps played a lot of guys in the 2nd half to try and build some depth. Owls score 15 in the 4th to eek out a cover here.

Boston College +3 winner
All I can say is that I wish they were all as easy as this one.

Sat 2-1
Season to date 4-2
