These are head to head matchup wagers that I placed Wed AM at Olympic. I bet these early before the lines got out of whack.

This tournament is played at the 2 courses at Torrey Pines in San Diego. The players will be playing both courses on Thurs and Fri ,and those who make the cut will play just the South course on the weekend. It should be noted that the South course has been redesigned and lengthened to get the 2008 US Open bid. In a word, BRUTAL. At over 7600 yds this is the longest and one of the toughest courses the players will face all season. And with rain in the forecast it will play even longer.

I must go to work now. A little later I will post some thoughts as to why I played each match.

1. Maruyama plays well on West coast and has cashed twice for me this year. This course might be a bit too long for Jeff. Maruyama also in the running for 500,000 dollar bonus for the West coast Swing.

2. Perfect spot to take Toms although a bit pricey. He is known for playing tough courses well and par will be a good score here. Toms also has played well here in the past.

3. Funk although very straight is also very short off the tee. Lehman has a history of playing well on US Open type courses. He is also a great long iron player and there will be a lot of 2 and 3 irons hit to these long par 4's. He also almost won at Pebble last week.

4.Betting against Tiger is not something that is usually profitable. I'm still a little worried about Phil off the tee, but he is playing on the course he grew up on, near where henow lives.and he is a 3 time winner here, and is a real value at +220. Remember also that Tiger has to beat him with that crappy Nike equipment.

5. Sutherland should be motivated to play well here. He needs a good performance to qualify for the World Match Play tournament in 2 weeks where he is the defending champ. Riley is a strong young player who will makle us some cash this year and will win some tournaments. I just hope he doesn't pick this week to wake up.

6. Rocco has been my cash cow so far this season and is poised to have a really big year. I will take him every week in a matchup until he loses. He is up against a fine player this week in Stuart.

There you have it . Good luck to any who decide to bet any or all of these.

Man, I have NO clue about golf ! I would just play your picks but right now I'm just throwing all my coin on my teasers - it's easier on my simple mind !

Like your calls here, especially mickelson. Do like riley and he has played well in this tourn. Good to read your comments. Have riley and mickelson for my two fantasy choices this week. Need a winner badly. Good Luck.

Players were unable to complete first round due to rain. They will try to complete round 1 and 2 today which means a lot of holes for players with late tee times yesterday. I hope Rocco's new fitness regimen is for real. Sluman also has to play 30 + holes today and i bet against him. It should all even out. The cut will come late today. back later wih an update on where my guys are at.

That was a nasty fog on the course yesterday, I watched some of the highlights on sport center this morning. Hopefully this set back doesn't throw a wrench in your plays.

Weather has made quite a mess of this event. Results after 2 rounds :

Maruyama W (Sluman missed cut )
Toms L (missed cut )
Lehman 7down to Funk
Mickelson 1 down to Woods
Sutherland 2 down to Riley
Mediate- Appleby ( no action, Mediate did not start tournament )

With 3 of my matches off the board already I will be looking for some Sat-Sun or Sun only matchups. None posted yet.

Once again, Tiger beats Phil like a stepchild. I guess Ernie will have to be the one to step up and challenge Tiger as it sure doesn't look like it will be Phil.
