This week the PGA Tour stop is in Phoenix at the TPC of Scottsdale. Some things to think about in regard to this tournament.
1. This will be the largest and noisiest crowd the players have to deal with all year. They drink heavily and yell and holler for 4 days. Not the usual decorum surrounding a Tour event. Last year on Sunday there were 100,000 spectators at this event. Seasoned vets and the type of players who feed off the crowd will do well here.

2. This is a real risk vs reward type of course and players who aren't afraid to gamble a bit will do well here.

3. Large, undulating greens put a premium on putting. Good putters will perform well here.

These are the players i have bet on in this weeks tournament. My record this year to date is 4-2-2.

1. Chris DiMarco -110 over Sergio Garcia.
Sergio is not putting well and will be using a new putter again this week. Last i knew he was trying a belly putter. It's a good idea to bet against a guy who is changing putters every week.especially here. Chris played well in Hawaii last week(cost me money) and won this tournament last year. Sergio could also hear some of the heckling here that he heard at Bethpage last year.

2. Rocco Mediate -130 over Fred Funk
Rocco's swing looks great and his back problems are behind him to the point where he scrapped the long putter and started the season with a regular putter. He played and putted well in Hawaii. The last 4 years Rocco has placed 1-2-2-15 here and is a crowd favorite wherever he plays. He should do well here.

3. Tom Lehman -115 over John Huston
Lehman lives in Scottsdale and will be a local favorite here. He won this tournament in 2000 and knows this course well.Huston, although a terrific player usually doesn't hit stride until the Tour gets to Fla. He will give us a good wagering opportunity when the Tour gets to Fla.

4.Phil Mickelson -115 vs David Toms
Wish this wasn't against Tom's who is a great player. Phil lives in Cal now, but used to live in Scottsdale and went to ASU. He will be the crowd favorite here and treated like a home town hero. I can't help but think of the way he responded to the crowd at Bethpage last year in the US Open. This will be huge here. If that's not enough Phil won this tournament in 1996 and has 4 top ten finishes here. This is his first tournament this year as he skipped Hawaii. Last year he won his first tournament at the Bob Hope. I'm considering playing 50/450 on Phil to win here.

5.Retief Goosen +125 over Vijay Singh.
Once again I'm betting against a great player but Retief has quietly become one of the premier players in the world. His quiet, unshakable demeanor should serve him well amongst the chaos that is this tournament. His putter is absolute Drano. I've never seen a guy make so many long ones. Good for this course.

6. Lee Janzen -145 vs Kevin Sutherland
Gotta lay some juice here but Lee is a solid player with one of the best putting strokes on Tour. The 2 time US Open winner shot 64-64 on the weekend here last year to set a 36 hole scoring record for this course. I'll try him here.

well there you have it. I hope these guys perform well his week. I will do a daily update on this thread as to where my wagers stand.

FL, you bang the Supa-Plays so I'm gonna give you some of that back.

Taking all these this week along with you. Make sure you give us regular updates because I don't know anything about capping golf either!

Good Luck to Us!

I'll be looking for one of those Cappers Network golf shirts if these picks win this week.

Yes, unless there are players who fail to make the cut after Fri round. In that case some matches will be won or lost on Fri night. I will do a daily update on this thread. I f interested go to PGA Tour.com and click on full field scores.

Results after round #2 :

Janzen -4, Sutherland MC Janzen wins this match
DiMarco 2dn to Garcia
Mediate 1 up on Funk
Lehman 6 dn to Huston
Mickelson-Toms tied
Goosen- Singh tied

Nice to get that first win under our belts. The way they're shooting low numbers anything can happen on the weekend. A player can get hot and no lead is safe.

Added golf wager :
Sat/Sun matchup :

Lee Janzen (-140) vs Jose Maria Olazabal

JMO is having driver trouble again and couln't hit a farway to save his life yesterday. That should linger in his mind this weekend as this is definitely a driver kind of course where the players let it rip. That along with Janzen's 64-64 here on the weekend last year make Lee a good bet.

Keep in mind that a Sat/Sun matchup is a new bet and only Sat and Sun scores count.

With 1 round left we are in pretty decent shape but as i said earlier scores will be way low on Sun and anything can happen.

results after round #3 :

1.DiMarco 6 up on Garcia
2.Mediate 3 up on Funk
3.Lehman 10 dn to Huston
4.Mickelson 4 dn to Toms
5.Goosen tied with Singh
6.Janzen won

added match Janzen 5 up on JMO

I'm trying to find a Sun only match taking Mark Calcavecchia but none listed so far. He will go low on Sun and i think the bookies are well aware of it.

There is a match on the board with Calcavecchia but it's vs DiMarco. I already have DiMarco in a match vs Garcia so i will pass on it.
