TIP OF THE DAY
Sport: College Basketball Picks

Game: Washington @ Washington St. on Feb 4 2006 5:00PM

Prediction: Washington

Current Line: 5 -110

Over/Under: 130.5 -110

Reason: The Huskies have fallen to 5-4 in the Pac Ten
following two straight road losses but they have had a
week off to get back gear. Not only does Washington
want to get back in the win column but it also wants to
get back at the Cougars who handed the Huskies one
of only two home losses this season. It snapped a
four-game winning streak in this series for Washington
and gives it some extra motivation for this one. This is
its first two-game losing streak since the end of the 2004
season.

3RD 300,000* LOCK OF THE SEASON
Your winner here is on Mississippi State!

No I am not a huge fan this season of the Mississippi State Bulldogs because they are not really at all good but the Auburn Tigers are terrible and on the road will prove to be a disaster.

Jeff Lebo's squad just picked up their first conference win nipping Georgia at home by a measley point. The team looked okay in that game but then were just beaten up in LSU by 15 right after. ,beating the Dawgs at home by one does not show me very much and before that they were blitzed in their own gym by Alabama, Arkansas and Kentucky.

Flat out, Auburn is terrible at home and beyond terrible on the road at 0-6. These guys turn the ball over around 20 plus times a game and will not go to Starkville and compete today, I don't care if Miss. State is terrible themselves.

The Bulldogs have lost seven straight and are a very poor 1-7 in the SEC but these guys will look like a top ranked team today at home against the porous Tigers.

Home court is huge in college hoops and some teams just have no shot at all to play well anywhere on the road no matter the opponent and that is the case today with Auburn.

67-54 Miss State

150,000* EARLY ROAD WARRIOR
Your 150,000* winner here is on LSU!

Sure it is never easy going on the road in conference but for me to not really have to lay anything of substance with Glen Davis and the far superior Tigers of LSU in Alabama is more then enough for me.

Alabama is not terrible at all but without Chuck Davis these guys should not be able to compete today with John Brady's squad. Their talent level is far below what LSU brings to the table.

The Tigers are just the better team in pretty much every aspect today.

The Tide normally are unreal at home but this year has been a little different as they fell early on a few times on their own floor to Notre Dame and Memphis. Both of those teams including ,obviously Coach Calipari's Tigers, are quality but when the Tide is right they lose once a year at home. This team is just not all with it and I do not see them winning this game, no how no way!

200,000* NIGHTIME UNREAL SICK DOG
Your winner here is on Penn State!

No the Nittany Lions should not win this game but for this improving squad to be getting soooo many points is a bit much against a non blowout team is fine with me.

Penn State has been looking a lot better of late. Throw out that loss in Wisconsin as they were buried but were also not healthy that day. This team today is going to bring some game and despite not being as talented as Dee Brown, James Augustine and the Illini the Nittany's will not get embarassed.

Penn State just led at the break at Michigan State and played hard throughout in that game against what is an extremely talented Spartans squad, even if they were without their big man in Paul Davis.

Illinois is definitely very sound and for sure a top five team this season but they looked extremely mediocre in the win over Purdue, laying a similar amount and are not a team that blows out many. These guys bring the defense and will win something like 67-55.

Penn State will compete and may even have another lead at the half. Do not be surprised to be impressed by the Nittanys today.

150,000* BIG TWELVE NEAR PICK-EM BURIAL Plus Bonus Lock
Your winners here are on:

1. 150,000* Kansas State
2. 50,000* Arizona

1. There is no rationalizing losing to Baylor that is for sure but to get K State at home at this cheap price is a steal!

Okie State is just not that good. These guys no longer have John Lucas plus some other All-American type players from the last few years. It's Jameson Curry and a bunch of mediocre at best players. I mean, come on, these guys just lost at home to a team in Nebraska that never ever plays well on the road. Okie State lost for the fourth straight game as well after that outing.

Do not judge the Wildcats on that last performance, it happens. Look at this team as the 12-6 club that they are. State looked very tough in a cover in Colorado before that last loss and won three straight before that downing quality squads like Kansas and Texas A&M and an okay team in Missouri.

Cheap, cheap, cheap! The Cowboys are not going to K State and winning this game and at this cheap of a price for them to lose and cover would be tough and I'll take my chances.

Oklahoma State lost at home to Northwestern State among others, Kansas State may look like Duke in this spot!

2. Call me stubborn but I do not believe in UCLA and do not think they can be laying points to Arizona. No doubt the Bruins have been far better then the Wildcats all season long but to get points with Hassan Adams and what is still the more talented team is enough for me in this spot.

Jordan Farmar and the young boys from California have been unreal this season and deserving of a top 15 or so ranking. Conversely Lute Olson's squad continues to show they are a piece of garbage losing game after game as the favorite and underachive like normal.

But I still cannot pass up points with Arizona today. These guys were a double digit favorite in the first meeting which saw UCLA shock the world in the outright. Today we will see some revenge as the Cats finally play up to their potential now in the unusual position of being the underdog.
