Five Things You Need to Know in Sports

Want to start your day off right? Looking for the most interesting events of the day and a few games to lay action on? This day is all about college football and this has a chance to be the most exciting Saturday yet! Let's take a look at the top five matchups of the day.

1)#3 LSU (5-0) at #11 Florida (4-0), 3:30pmET, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville,

Last year: LSU (-13.5) over Florida, 41-11. LSU is undefeated at 5-0, but they played poorly against Auburn two weeks ago, winning just 12-10. Last week against FCS-member Towson at home, the Tigers won 38-22 and were up 17-9 at the half. Florida has one of the best offensive lines in the SEC, if not the nation. They will need to be on their game to protect QB Jeff Driskel against an outstanding defensive line. Florida is 5-1 ATS L6 following a bye week. LSU is a 2.5-point favorite with a total of 42.5.

2)#14 Oklahoma (2-1) at #24 Texas Tech (4-0), 3:30pmET, Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, Tx

Last year: Texas Tech (+28’) over OKLAHOMA, 41-38. After falling apart at home against Kansas State two weeks ago, the Sooners have had two weeks to think about another blown chance for a BCS Championship.Texas Tech will not be easy as the Red Raiders have not lost at home to Oklahoma since 2003. Texas Tech opened Big 12 play with a 24-13 win at Iowa State. Seth Doege threw for 331 yards and three touchdown passes, giving him 15 TDs, three picks and a 169 passer rating in four games. OU is 7-13 ATS before playing Texas. Oklahoma is a 4.5-point favorite with a total of 57.5.

3)#5 Georgia (5-0) at #6 South Carolina (5-0), Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, S.C.

Last year: GEORGIA (-3) over South Carolina, 45-42. These teams have never played each other with both ranked in the top 10. The Gamecocks started out slowly last week, before routing Kentucky, 38-17. Marcus Lattimore ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Georgia just lost top receiver Michael Bennett for the season to a knee injury. South Carolina is 5-0 ATS L5 in series. South Carolina is a 1.5-point favorite with a total of 53.5.
4)#7 West Virginia (4-0) at #9 Texas (4-0), Memorial Stadium, Austin, Tx, 7pmET, (Fox)

This game might set some offensive records. Texas ranks 63rd in the nation in total defense, while West Virginia ranks a lowly 106. Texas may not have a Geno Smith, but they do have a David Ash. The young quarterback is second behind Smith with a 184.0 passer rating, after throwing for 304 yards in a 41-36 win at Oklahoma State last week. Geno Smith might lock up the Heisman in midseason. This is West Virginia’s first road game of the season and in the Big 12. West Virginia is 2-6 ATS L8 following a SU win. Texas is a 7-point favorite with a total of 73.5

5)#20 Nebraska (4-1) at Ohio State (5-0), Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Oh.

Last year: NEBRASKA (-10) over Ohio State 34-27. This is Nebraska's first visit to Ohio State since 1956. Ohio State is 5-0 after edging Michigan State, 17-16 on the road. Nebraska will provide a huge test led by RB Rex Burkhead, who ran for 110 yards and caught five passes for 59 yards and scored twice last year against the Buckeyes. QB Taylor Martinez threw for 181 yards last week and ran for 107 vs. the Badgers. Nebraska is 4-1 ATS L5 on field turf. Ohio State is a 3.5-point favorite with a total of 56.5.
