TODAY'S FREE PLAYS:

UAB @ Tulane 3:30 PM EST

Tulane -4 over UAB (3 Units)

In a game that won't be as close as most expect, the Tulane Green Waves host the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers in a battle of two teams hovering around .500... the line has been set at four points for this game due to the early season struggles of Tulane and UAB's dominant two game homestand...

However, Tulane has started to turn things around, winning their last two games by an 87-26 margin, while stains have arisen all over the Blazers whenever they are invited to dinner elsewhere... sure, UAB has posted double-digit home wins against Memphis and Houston in their last two games, but when they have hit the road, things have gotten ugly... ever since last year's bowl game against Pitt, the Blazers have been outscored by a ridiculous 109 to 6 margin in their last three road games, including a 34-0 shutout at the hands of the 1-4 Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns, who have lost their other four games this season by a combined 118 points...

Meanwhile, Tulane has been a very solid play as a home favorite... not only are they 6-0 ATS as a single-digit favorite at home, but the Green Wave have won each of their last 16 games as a home favorite straight up, and by a margin of at LEAST five points on every occasion... taking today's small line into consideration, that is a very big stat to keep in mind... and with Tulane's defense coming off their best performance of the season (6 turnovers and 5 sacks against Cincinnati), UAB is going to have a difficult time breaking Tulane's consecutive streak of 5+ point home wins...

It certainly isn't going to help having an offense that is in dire straits for this game... UAB just lost their starting left tackle for the season after losing their right tackle earlier, and without their bookends in place, the Green Wave are bound to be coming in waves after the quarterback... by the way, did we mention that UAB is starting a freshman quarterback, and that this will be his first collegiate road game ever? Needless to say, Tulane's senior defensive ends (Floyd Dorsey, Kenan Blackmon) have got to be licking their chops at the notion of facing a freshman QB with almost half his starting offensive line on the sidelines... the reshuffled UAB offensive line will feature two players, including a redshirt freshman, in unfamiliar positions, and very little depth whatsoever, with a true freshman backing up both tackle positions..

Expect the inexperience of the revamped offensive line and the experience of playing in hostile territory to effect quarterback Darrell Hackney against the Tulane pressure, resulting in a couple of crucial turnovers that Tulane will convert into scores... the bottom line in this game is that UAB, already a horrendous team, is going up against a Tulane squad that is dominant at home with chaos and uncertainty on the offensive side of the ball... and the resulting problems will spell defeat to Tulane by double-digits...

FINAL PREDICTION: TULANE 27, UAB 10

Western Michigan @ Bowling Green 6:00 PM EST

Western Michigan +15.5 over Bowling Green (3 Units)

Bowling Green has reached the Top 25 for the first time in years, and look to keep up their high-flying ways when they host Western Michigan this Saturday... However, all is not well for Bowling Green, as injuries have started to ravage this team.. since the start of two-a-days, Bowling Green has lost an unfathomable 11 starters, and in their last game against Central Michigan, the Falcons actually ran out of healthy linebackers midway through the fourth quarter...

Now Bowling Green is being asked to not only win this game, but cover a 15.5 pointspread as well against a Western Michigan team that has won four straight both SU and ATS against the Falcons... Bowling Green may be having a terrific year, but their quality of opponent has been mediocre at best, as their opponents are a cobined 11-21 on the year...

Meanwhile, Western Michigan is not being credited enough, as their four losses on the year have all come against quality sqauds (Virginia Tech, Michigan, Purdue, Central Florida)... and this difficult schedule should help Western Michigan compete against the depleted Falcons to the point where a cover seems likely, and a SU win is not out of the question...

Western Michigan is getting it done with defense, allowing just 325.7 yards per game this season... and when you consider the strength of some of their opponents, those numbers definitely do not ring hollow... Western Michigan has covered each of their three road games this season, and have historically performed well as a road dog... in their last ten games as a road dog of any number, the Broncos are 7-3 ATS... when the line is six points or more, Western Michigan is covering the spread at a 7-2 clip.. and a double-digit road dog, WMU is 6-3 ATS in their last nine games...

Western Michigan has fared well on offense against the Falcons, scoring 34 points or more in their last three games against Bowling Green... and with the BG defense banged up, and having allowed 35 points last week in their low point of health, Western Michigan should be able to repeat that performance this week...

In the last four matchups between these teams, Western Michigan has been the underdog on three occasions.. all three times, Western Michigan won the game straight up... and while we're not calling for the straight up win here, we feel confident that Western Michigan should be able to keep the final margin of victory to 14 points or less... therefore, take the Broncos and the points...

FINAL PREDICTION: BOWLING GREEN 41, WESTERN MICHIGAN 31
