Friday, May 10 | All times ET

@ Brewers @ Cubs | Wrigley Field | 3:20 p.m.
E. Stull (R) 0-0, 0.00 vs. M. Clement (R) 1-2, 3.34

Scouting report:
Everett Stull will be re-called from Triple-A Indianapolis to make his first 2002 start as the Brewers seek to get something started. He last started in the Majors in 2000 and lost to Arizona, and he was 3-2 with a 2.58 ERA for Indy. Clement has no decisions in his last three starts.

@ Giants @ Expos | Olympic Stadium | 7:05 p.m.
L. Hernandez (R) 4-2, 2.70 vs. J. Vazquez (R) 1-2, 3.33

Scouting report:
Hernandez is looking for his first victory since he shut out Houston April 19 at Astros Field. His last outing was his worst of the season, giving up four earned runs in a loss to Cincinnati. Vazquez needs to get rolling for the Expos to keep contending. Barry Bonds has 2 HR in 14 AB against him.

@ D-Backs @ Phillies | Veteran's Stadium | 7:05 p.m.
R. Helling (R) 3-3, 6.75 vs. V. Padilla (R) 4-2, 2.87

Scouting report:
Can the Phils continue their hot homestand? Padilla, coming off back-to-back victories to right Philly's ship, has faced Arizona only in two relief appearances. Those came in 2000 -- 2 1/2 weeks after Arizona, the team that originally signed him, dealt him to Philadelphia.

@ Astros @ Pirates | PNC Park | 7:05 p.m.
C. Hernandez (L) 3-0, 3.13 vs. J. Anderson (L) 2-4, 5.77

Scouting report:
Hernandez is quietly putting together one of the NL's best runs, winning three of his last four starts and allowing no more than five hits in any of his last five. Lance Berkman is just 1-for-11 (not a homer) against Anderson, who has lost three consecutive starts.

@ Dodgers @ Marlins | Pro Player Stadium | 7:05 p.m.
K. Ishii (L) 6-0, 2.95 vs. A. Burnett (R) 5-2, 2.54

Scouting report:
Two contrasting pitchers, but both effective lately in their own ways. Burnett has won three straight, and last time he had help from teammates as Milwaukee hit him for four earned runs. Ishii faces Florida for the first time. Although he keeps pitching well enough to win, he needs to rein in his walks, which grew to five last outing.

@ Cardinals @ Reds | Cinergy Field | 7:10 p.m.
J. Simontacchi (R) 1-0, 2.57 vs. J. Haynes (R) 2-4, 4.94

Scouting report:
Just when the Cards needed it most, Simontacchi came up from the minors to secure a rotation spot by beating Atlanta last Saturday. The first pitch Haynes threw in his last start was crushed by Barry Bonds, and he never recovered. Tino Martinez is 6-for-12 with a homer against Haynes, who was 1-1 with a 3.09 ERA last season against St. Louis as a Brewer.

@ Rockies @ Mets | Shea Stadium | 7:10 p.m.
J. Jennings (R) 2-2, 4.70 vs. J. D'Amico (R) 2-2, 3.18

Scouting report:
While you're waiting for that Hampton-Leiter showdown on Saturday, have some fun with this one. Jennings returns to the site where he made a memorable debut last Aug. 23, becoming the first player in Major League history to throw a complete-game shutout and homer in his debut. Todd Helton has singled, doubled and homered in seven at-bats against D'Amico.

@ Orioles @ Devil Rays | Tropicana Field | 7:15 p.m.
R. Lopez (R) 4-0, 1.91 vs. R. Rupe (R) 3-3, 4.30

Scouting report:
Lopez has already won at Tampa Bay this season, allowing one hit in four scoreless innings. He has beaten Boston twice, and last Saturday threw seven shutout innings against Kansas City. Rupe exited in the eighth inning against Boston in his last start and only gave up three hits, but his team couldn't score and it was another loss. This one could be interesting.

@ Padres @ Braves | Turner Field | 7:35 p.m.
D. Tankersley (R) 0-0, --- vs. G. Maddux (R) 3-2, 3.45

Scouting report:
We saw the old Maddux at last in his latest start, and with each outing we'll know if his stamina is coming back. He split two decisions last year with San Diego, and Mark Kotsay (12-for-33, one homer) has had good success against him. Jarvis has won back-to-back starts but has lasted through the sixth inning only once in his last four starts.

@ Indians @ Royals | Kauffman Stadium | 8:05 p.m.
C. Sabathia (L) 3-3, 6.13 vs. C. George (L) 0-3, 4.64

Scouting report:
Sabathia is making noise again, handing Kenny Rogers his first 2002 defeat Sunday in the victory over Texas at home. This series is matching the AL staff that allows the fewest homers against a team -- Kansas City -- that doesn't hit many. Meanwhile, Russ Branyan had homered in three straight for Cleveland through Wednesday. George won last September at Jacobs Field, allowing just four hits and two ER in 7IP.

@ Yankees @ Twins | Metrodome | 8:05 p.m.
D. Wells (L) 4-1, 4.80 vs. E. Milton (L) 4-2, 4.78

Scouting report:
Wells, beaten by Seattle his last time out, is far from invincible at The Met. He left there last season after two innings with a back spasm (while with Chicago) and is 5-3 with a 3.50 ERA there in his career. This will be an interesting meeting against Milton, who is throwing one quality start after another and pitching for a Twins team that has been dominant so far at home.

@ Tigers @ Rangers | The Ballpark | 8:05 p.m.
J. Weaver (R) 2-4, 3.47 vs. K. Rogers (L) 3-1, 3.07

Scouting report:
Texas is the only AL team Weaver has yet to defeat (0-3, 5.25 ERA). He leads the league in average pitches thrown, has yet to throw under 100 in a game and threw 126 last time out. Rogers finally hit a speed bump Sunday at Cleveland, ending a personal three-game winning streak. He had a no-decision/quality start in his only 2001 appearance against Detroit.

@ White Sox @ Angels | Edison Field | 10:05 p.m.
D. Wright (R) 3-3, 5.17 vs. S. Schoeneweis (L) 1-4, 6.03

Scouting report:
Schoeneweis just celebrated the arrival of a baby this week, and we always like to see how new dads throw after that. Wright lost to Barry Zito his last outing, hurt by two-out RBIs in the fifth from Randy Velarde and Scott Hatteberg. This is Wright's first start against Anaheim, and he hopes to continue this trend: 7.51 average runs per start. It's hard to lose with that.

@ Blue Jays @ A's | Network Associates Col. | 10:05 p.m.
J. Miller (R) 2-0, 5.40 vs. M. Mulder (L) 2-1, 4.91

Scouting report:
The A's have lost three series in a row, but look who's back to help. Mulder makes his first start back since leaving in early April with stiffness in his forearm, and he'll get a huge ovation at The Net. Miller stopped the Blue Jays' bleeding his last time out, quieting Anaheim's bats with just four hits and one earned run allowed in seven innings.

@ Red Sox @ Mariners | SAFECO Field | 10:05 p.m.
F. Castillo (R) 2-2, 3.31 vs. J. Pineiro (R) 2-0, 2.08

Scouting report:
Red Sox Nation has been waiting for this series. The Sox bring MLB's best record through Wednesday into SAFECO, and the 15-2 road record was the best road start by any club since 1984. Castillo has defeated every team he has faced except Seattle (never faced Arizona). He is 0-3 with a 9.72 ERA against the M's. Pineiro finally won a decision Sunday, and it was a big one at New York.
