First of all, let us clear up any misconceptions about this section of our newsletter. When we include “Something to Consider”, “A System Play”, “ An Angle Play” etc., the information provided does not constitute a selection in and of itself. Rather, it is supplementary data to include with and/or add to other aspects of a particular game. Handicapping a match up requires study of many different variables and should never hinge solely on one factor. The premise is to point out, or further illustrate, to the do-it-yourself handicapper another aspect worth considering. Again, a section of this nature is meant to supplement other data. With that said, it is worth pointing out that Detroit and Texas carry very similar overall numbers heading into this match up. That fact in and of it self may not seem compelling. However, the fact Detroit has surprisingly taken 8 of the past 9 meetings and 12 of the last 14 vs. the Rangers, coupled with a money line of +140 persuades a look at the Tigers in this spot. Again, it just may be Something to Consider…
