While we don't believe that either one of these teams has what it takes to make it to the Super Bowl this season, someone has to win this game, and when we're getting more than a field goal's worth of points, we'll gladly take the underdog in a contest between two teams who have been horrendous as favorites this season... while Tennessee has in fact covered their last three games as a favorite, their last two wins have come against Houston and Jacksonville squads that ended the season with a combined ten wins on the season...

It certainly doesn't hurt that Tennessee has been awful in the role of favorite over the past few seasons... in fact, not only are the Titans 7-16-1 ATS as a single-digit favorite, but they are just 5-16-1 ATS when favored by more than a single point... and when asked to cover more than a field goal, Tennessee has gone just 2-11 ATS, with their sole wins coming by a half point against the Houston Texans, and a mere point against the Bengals, as Corey Dillon tripped over his own lineman at the goal-line with a chance to put Cincinnati up for good in the final minute of that contest... put the Titans at home and favored by more than a field goal, and you will find a team that is a perfect 0-7 ATS in those contests, with their only SU win coming against the expansion Texans... in their six SU losses in this situation, the Titans have allowed an amazing 30.2 ppg against their opposition... against a Pittsburgh team that has scored 30+ points in three of their last four games, and is averaging 26 ppg on the road in their last seven games, Tennessee's defense will find that shutting down teams such as Houston, Jacksonville, New England, and Indianapolis is much different than stopping an offense like Pittsburgh's...

Then again, Tennessee is probably already well aware of that fact, as the Titans have allowed a whopping 27.8 points per game in their six contests this season against playoff teams, a number that jumps to 33.8 ppg when you take out Tennessee's two divisional games against the Colts this season... including their contest against the Titans this season, the Steelers have scored over 30 points per game in their last three games against Tennessee, including a 34-24 road win in Tennessee last season as a two-point dog... surprisingly enough, the underdog in the series between these two teams is now a superb 4-1 ATS in the last five matchups, with Pittsburgh going a very profitable 3-0 ATS as an underdog against the Titans... As an underdog in general, the Steelers have been a terrific money-maker, going 11-3-1 ATS when the opposition is favored, and 8-2-1 ATS in their last eleven games as a road dog... with the points on our side, we'll make a small play on the Steelers...

However, the real play in this game looks to be Over 44, as neither one of these teams has shown much of an inclination towards stopping the opposition... Pittsburgh's secondary was once again exposed in last week's game against the Browns, marking the second straight game where a team scored more than 30 points against the Steelers... against winning teams on the road this season, the Steelers have allowed 30 points to New England, 32 to New Orleans, 20 to Cleveland, and 31 to Tennessee earlier this season... the only game where Pittsburgh was only able to shut down a winning team on the road came against a Tampa Bay team that was without Brad Johnson, and saw Shaun King have one of the worst performances in a game this season... Tennessee will definitely score some points in this game, and with two defenses that thrive upon stopping the run, we expect to see an aerial assault that will fall in line with the history of this series, as the Over has now gone 5-1 in the last six head-to-head matchups between these squads, including three straight Overs where the winning team scored at least 31 points... with the Over also 8-3 in Pittsburgh road games, and 16-8 in Tennessee games at home, the chances of these teams passing 44 points are very strong, as we're expecting nothing less than a back-and-forth shootout which sees the final result being decided by no more than a field goal either way...

FINAL PREDICTION: PITTSBURGH 34, TENNESSEE 31 OT

Best of luck to you!
