It was bad enough having to listen to the WORST ANALYST IN ORGANIZED SPORTS last Sunday night with Sterling Sharpe. Scoring at home, how many times did he tell us he was “impressed or saw good things” out of the Raiders. Hey Sterling, that team you’re so blown away with is now 9-25 SU since the start of 2003 and about to be 0-3 this year. What a stooge.

Seriously, have you ever seen a less-disciplined team than the Oakland Raiders? This mentality seems to run rampant with this franchise regardless of the personnel. Last Sunday against Kansas City, the Raiders had two more touchdowns called back because of penalties. In the opener against New England, 16 infractions for 149 yards. Kerry Collins is 39-of-75 and barely over 50 percent completions. Let’s face it: Collins is basically a turnover machine and an accident waiting to happen. It’s a complete mismatch here with Collins against Philadelphia defensive coordinator Jim Johnson. The Eagles love to blitz and Collins is prone to making mistakes. I mean seriously, aside from a weekly TD bomb to Randy Moss, do you see any reason to believe the Raiders will be vastly improved in 2005? We all waited in the preseason for Oakland to explode offensively, and it never happened. The only win they had was against New Orleans 13-6 and that was the week of Hurricane Katrina. They managed to lose to the Texans in August (enough said). The bottom line is the Raiders are 9-25 SU since the start of the 2003 season. Now they travel across the country (again) to play the best team in the NFC. We mentioned last week that Philadelphia has become a dominating team at home. They led San Francisco 28-0 just 19 minutes into the game. Last year at Financial Field they were 7-1 with the only defeat coming in a “who care’s” in the final week of the regular season after already assuring the home field advantage in the playoffs. The line alone in that game with the Bengals last December suggests the Eagles didn’t play their regulars (3-point home underdog). Five of their seven wins in Philly came by double digits. When the Eagles are motivated, they are capable of making very large statements. On August 27th in the preseason, they led Cincinnati 27-3 at halftime. You know Coach Reid is keeping one eye on his team and the other on the Atlanta Falcons. The fact the Eagles got the game back (Atlanta loss to Seattle) last Sunday after losing to the Falcons in week #1 should motivate this team once again this week. Last year the Raiders were #32 and dead last in rushing the football and #30 in total defense. Through two games in 2005 they are #21 in rushing and #28 in total defense. It’s almost impossible to win in the NFL on the road when you can’t advance the pigskin with the ground game and can’t defend. This could really get ugly when you compare the rankings Philly already has this year. The Eagles are #2 in total offense and the #1 passing team in the league. Theya are #4 in total defense and #2 in defending the pass. Plus they are #4 in quarterback sacks while Oakland is #32 and dead last plus #30 against the pass. Last year the Raiders were #31 in sacks and #30 in pass defense. With no rush on McNabb and a horrible pass defense, the Eagles will flourish through the air. When Kerry Collins was engineering the New York attack in 2002 and 2003, the Eagles were 3-1 SU and ATS with the Giants only scoring a total of 33 points. As for Moss, I don’t recall him doing too much damage with the Vikings last year in the playoff when the Eagles beat Minnesota 27-14 at home as a 8-point favorite. The Birds also beat the Vikings in the regular-season on Monday Night Football 27-16 as a 3-point chalk. Don’t forget what Tom Brady did to the Raiders in week #1. Brady was 24-of-38 for 306 yards and two touchdowns. New England certainly looked mortal against a quality defense in Carolina last week. I’ve got the Raiders 2-16 SU in their last 18 on the road going 5-13 ATS in their last 18 on enemy soil. McNabb had five touchdown passes a bruised chest. If feeling better, it’s scary to comprehend what he’s capable of against this soft defense. The bottom line is the Eagles are 6-0 ATS the last two years when coming off a double-digit win and facing an opponent off a SU loss. Make it 7-0 as the Raiders have allowed 30 points or more in six of their last eight road games (24 or more in all eight). McNabb will throw all over this sorry-ass defense.

FYI: The team the Eagles just beat by 39 (49ers), beat the Raiders in preseason. Yikes!

Good luck guys.
