Five Things You Need to Know in Sports

Want to start your sports day off right? Looking for some action and the most exciting matchups of the day? The NFL is on tap so let's get right to it. Here is a brief look at the top five important matchups of the day.

1)Atlanta (2-0) at San Diego (2-0), 4:05pmET, Qualcomm Stadium

Atlanta is 25-0 SU when Matt Ryan has a passer rating of 100 or better. The Chargers will be getting TE Antonio Gates (ribs) and Ryan Mathews (collarbone) back this week. The Falcons will need to block OLB Shaun Phillips, who has 2.5 sacks. The Falcons are coming off a 27-21 win over Denver on Monday night, while San Diego is coming off beating Tennessee, 38-10 at home. Atlanta is 14-5 ATS with a total of 42.5 to 49 points. San Diego is a 3-point favorite with a total of 47.5.

2)Cincinnati (1-1) at Washington (1-1), 1pmET, FedEx Field, (Landover, Md)

Cincinnati is coming off a 7-point win at home against Cleveland, while Washington lost at St. Louis as a slight favorite. The Redskins get back WR Pierre Garcon from injury, but they lost DL Adam Carriker and OLB Brian Orakpo last week for the season against the Rams. This is the home debut of Robert Griffin III, who has combined for 309 rushing yards with RB Alfred Morris. Bengals are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in Week 3. Washington is a 3-point favorite and the total of 50.

3)Philadelphia (2-0) at Arizona (2-0), University of Phoenix Stadium

Is Arizona for real? The Eagles have committed nine turnovers in two games yet are undefeated. They take on a team in Arizona that is coming off a monster upset over New England, 20-18, getting 13. Last year, the Cardinals shocked the Eagles on the road, winning 21-17, getting 13.5. QB Kevin Kolb is expected to make his second straight start. Home team is 4-1 ATS L5 in series. Philadelphia is a 3-point favorite with a total of 42.

4)Houston (2-0) at Denver (1-1), Sports Authority Field at Mile High

Houston hasn't gotten their running game going yet (3.6ypc), but everything else is working fine at 2-0. The Texans are coming off routing Jacksonville on the road, 27-7, while Denver lost at Atlanta on Monday night, 27-21 at the Georgia Dome. Peyton Manning struggled last week for Denver, as it appears his timing is off a little after tossing 3 picks in the first quarter on Monday. Texans are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win. Houston is a 2-point favorite with a total of 44.5.

5)New England (1-1) at Baltimore (1-10, M&T Bank Stadium

This is a revenge game for Baltimore, who lost in the playoffs last year, 23-20. The Patriots were shocked by Arizona last week at home, 20-18 as Stephen Gostkowski missed a 42-yard field goal with seconds left. Baltimore allowed nearly 500 yards last week at Philadelphia (24-23 loss). TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) is out for the next month as the Pats signed Kellen Winslow. New England is 4-0-1 ATS L5 as a dog. Baltimore is a 2.5-point favorite and the total is 49.5.
