MLB Pick

Chicago Cubs (Wood) @ Chicago White Sox (Wright)

We will be playing the Chicago White Sox +115 today vs. the Cubs. For whatever reason, the odds makers and betting public continue to place a large premium on Wood. The fact of the matter is that Wood is an average pitcher playing on a bad baseball team. He has a 7-5 win loss record, a middle of the road 3.86 ERA and a lofty 7.00 ERA his last 3 starts. Not such good numbers for a guy that is favored in every game he pitches.

Our formulas indicate the White Sox should be anywhere from -110 to -120 all things considered. After all, the White Sox are 21-16 and batting an extremely solid .278 at home this season. Compare that with the 16-21 record and .242 batting average for the Cubs on the road.

It is also hard to ignore the recent offensive exploits of the Sox. Consider that they are averaging 9 runs per and batting .376 over their last 3 games!!! As is the case with everything, baseball is extremely cyclical and when you find a team that is on fire offensively, stick with them until the trend has run its course. The Sox hit a mid-season slump, but we feel they may well be a team on the ascent second half of the season.

Our Prediction: White Sox 5 Cubs 4

the write is nice, but i think these teams match up well and you got to bet the better pitcher here.that is why vegas made cubs a favorite.

I'm also leaning with the Cubs, but did not make them a play. I did play the over, however.
