Today the National Sports Advisors look for the St Louis Blues to snap a two game losing skid, and defeat the Buffalo Sabres at home tonight.
St Louis enters tonight's game with an overall record of 35-29-8, including 22-12-1 at home. The Blues are currently #6 in the Western Conference's playoff picture with 82 points. However, thet are not locked into the playoffs yet, as they are just 3 points ahead of the West's #10 team(Vancouver 79 points). The Blues are still attempting to move up into at least the #4 seed, which would give them home ice for the first round. They currently trail Chicago and Los Angeles, who are both tied for the #4 seed with 85 points.
Buffalo enters tonight's game with an overall record of 30-34-9, including 12-19-5 on the road. The Sabres have struggled of late, having dropped 3 of their last 4 games. The Sabres are also fighting for their playoff lives, as they currently are on the outside looking in, in the Eastern Conference's playoff hunt. The Sabres own 70 points, which has them tied for 10th in the East and 3 points out of the #8 seed.
So why the BLUES? Well, we like St Louis for many reasons. One is that St Louis is a very good home team, while Buffalo has really struggled on the road. St Louis dominated Buffalo 5-2 in the previous metting between these two clubs in Buffalo on January 23, andSt Louis is 7-1 ATS in the past eight meetings between the two clubs. Tonight's game is very important to both teams, and this game should have a "playoff" feel to it. With Buffalo's starting goalie Martin Biron only 1-5-1 in his last seven starts and his confidence shaken after surrendering four goals on only 19 shots in tuesday's 4-3 loss to Washington, we look for St Louis to take care of a floundering Sabres team tonight at home. Play the Blues.
