Five Things You Need to Know
Looking for some exciting events on Thursday? Want to lay some action down on some national tv games? Here are some of the top four matchups of the day including football and baseball playoffs along with future odds.
1)Seattle (4-2) at San Francisco (4-2), Candlestick Park
Last year: SAN FRANCISCO (-5’/38) over Seattle, 33-17; San Francisco (-1/37’) over SEATTLE, 19-17. Can the Niners bounce back after a terrible home loss last week? Is Alex Smith regressing again? Is Seattle's defense for real? Seattle is coming off a 24-23 win as a 4-point home dog, while San Francisco lost at home to the New York Giants, 26-3. San Francisco is 3-0 ATS L3 at home in series. San Francisco is a 7-point favorite with a total of 38.
2)Houston (3-3) at SMU (2-4), Gerald J. Ford Stadium
Last year: HOUSTON (-20) over SMU, 37-7. Houston is coming off of a 39-17 win over UAB, which was its third in a row. SMU seemed to be clicking as they shut out Texas-El Paso, 17-0, in their C-USA opener, however they were upset by previously winless Tulane in a thriller last week. Coach June Jones and his team have a lot to prove after allowing Tulane to snap its FBS leading 15-game losing streak last week. Houston is 3-0 ATS L3 in series. Houston is a 5-point favorite with a total of 60.
3)Oregon (6-0) vs. Arizona State (5-1), Sun Devil Stadium
Last year: OREGON (-14) over Arizona State, 41-27. Both teams have high-powered offenses. This will be a tough test for the second-ranked Ducks, who trounced Washington on Oct. 6, 52-21. ASU is coming off a 51-17 rout of Colorado on the road. Arizona State’s defense will be tested by Kenjon Barner and the speedy Ducks. ASU is 4-0-1 ATS L5 as a home dog. Oregon is an 8-point favorite with a total 68.5.
4)San Francisco at St. Louis, Game 4 of the NLCS, Busch Stadium
Tim Lincecum (10-15, 5.18 ERA) takes on Adam Wainright (14-13, 3.94 ERA). On paper, this looks like a mismatch. The Giants could start a different pitcher depending on the situation. Both teams are struggling at the plate. C Buster Posey (.336 reg. season) is hitting .185 for the Giants, while C Yadier Molina, a .315 hitter this year, is hitting just .138in the playoffs. Never easy for catchers considering how grueling this season is. Cards are 6-1 in Wainright's last 7 starts vs. NL West. No line at press time.

Here are the latest odds to win the BCS National Championship. The unfortunate part of this system is that there are very few teams that have a legitimate chance. The odds have been narrowed down, but Alabama is still the favorite according to Bovada.
