Hawaii Warriors (1-0) at BYU Cougars (1-0)

With revenge on their minds, the BYU Cougars will host the Hawaii Warriors for the first time in Provo, since 1997. The Warriors humiliated the Cougars in the final game last season, with a 72-45 decision. Both teams won their opener, with the Warriors spanking Eastern Illinois, 61-36 and the Cougars doubling up Syracuse, 42-21. The Cougars figure to be a double-digit favorite come game time. The Warriors are 10-3 ATS versus the Cougars the last 13 meetings, but just 2-3 the last five. The Cougars are 6-1 ATS the last seven times they've been favored at home.

Despite a broken pinky finger on his throwing hand, quarterback Timmy Chang, completed 19-of-30 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns in the opener. Mike Bass is the clubs leading returning rusher, leaving the Warriors with some questions at the position. Justin Colbert is the teams top wideout. He caught three passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns last week. The offensive line took a hit, when senior guard Lui Fuaga went down with a broken leg.

The Warriors defense will give up a lot of points, but can tighten up in important situations. Linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa is the teams top defender and is coming off an outstanding game. The defensive line needs work and must put pressure on the quarterback this week. The secondary is improved, with Hyrum Peters and Kevin Millhouse leading the way. Peters ran back an interception for a touchdown in week one.

The Cougars offense had that familiar high-flying look to it last week. Junior Bret Engemann won Mountain West Player of the Week honors, after completing 35-of-54 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore running back Marcus Whalen rushed for 140 and one touchdown on 19 carries. The teams leading receiver Reno Mahe didn't get involved much, but Toby Christensen had a solid game, catching six passes for 98 yards and one touchdown.

Middle linebacker Paul Walkenhorst leads the defense, which did a nice job in week one against a decent Orangemen offense. Levi Madarieta is another fine linebacker, making that position by far the strongest spot on the Cougars defense. The frontline gets little push, leaving plenty of room for improvement. The already thin secondary will probably be without their best coverman, Jernaro Gilford, who injured his knee in the opener. Safety Michael Madsen is also doubtful, after hurting his knee.
