Tuesday's Betting Tips
By Covers.com

Weather watch

Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Coors Field, where the Rockies host the Giants Tuesday. Winds will reach speeds of up to 11 mph, blowing NNW towards the first base line, and there is a 40 percent chance of rain later in the evening.

Betting news and notes

Milwaukee OF Corey Hart is day-to-day while suffering through plantar fascia. The Brewers are +106 underdogs hosting the Braves Tuesday.

The Buffalo Bills, already reeling from the loss of RB Fred Jackson for the next few weeks, will also be without WR David Nelson. He’s lost for the season after suffering a torn ligament in his right knee. Buffalo is a 3.5-point home favorite against Kansas City in Week 2.

Wisconsin is desperate to improve its running game after an upset loss to Oregon State in Week 2. The Badgers fired offensive line coach Mike Markuson this week after Heisman hopeful Montee Ball averaged under four yards per carry through the first two games of the season. Wisconsin is -14 hosting Utah State Saturday.

The Phillies have won 19 of their last 27 games at Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia is a -205 home fave with Roy Halladay on the mound Tuesday.

New York manager Terry Collins pushed back the time of his team’s batting practice Monday in an effort to try and jump-start his team’s anemic offense. The Mets have just six total runs in their last four games, playing under the total in three of those outings.

The Yankees have won eight of 12 meetings with the Red Sox this season. New York is a -130 road favorite in Fenway Park Tuesday.

The Braves are 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position in their past two games. Atlanta outhit Milwaukee on Monday 10-4. All 10 Atlanta hits were singles. The Braves have played under the total in eight of their last 10 contests.

Los Angeles OF Mike Trout went 1-for-3 in the opener to raise his average to .197 in 19 career games against Oakland. The Halos are -151 favorites versus the A’s.

5 Things You Need to Know in Sports

Want to start your day off right? Looking for the most interesting events of the day and a few games to lay action on? There is a full schedule in baseball tonight as football goes later this week. Here is a brief look at the top four important matchups of the day along with a glance at future odds.

1)Tampa Bay at Baltimore Matt Moore (10-9, 3.66 ERA) vs. Jason Hammel (8-6, 3.46 ERA)

Another big series in Baltimore. The Orioles just finished splitting with the Yankees, 2-2. Now they take on Tampa Bay, who is one game behind the Orioles in the AL East races and wild card race. The Orioles are 1 game behind the Yankees for the AL East lead but the loss of OF Nick Markakis to a broken thumb could be a huge loss. Tampa Bay is 9-24-1 Under last 34 games vs. a right-handed starter. Tampa Bay opened as a -150 favorite with a total of 8.5.

2)Miami at Philadelphia, Nate Eovaldi (4-11, 4.44 ERA) vs. Roy Halladay (9-7, 3.87 ERA)

Don't look now but the Phillies are just two games below .500 (before Monday's results). Halladay isn't having a great year but is still capable of pitching a game. Miami hasn't given up as shown by their most recent performance against the Nationals, winning 2 of 3 games on the road. Miami is 6-2 last 8 in series. Philadelphia opened as a -215 favorite with a total of 8.

3)LA Dodgers at Arizona, Clayton Kershaw (12-8, 2.79 ERA) vs. Ian Kennedy (12-11, 4.39 ERA)

Kershaw is back after the Dodgers skipped his last start. Arizona is all but out of the race now but they can still be dangerous to the Dodgers as they split (2-2) with them in their last series. The Dodgers need OF Matt Kemp (shoulder) back in the lineup and he's listed as questionable for this game. Dodgers are 1-7 Under last 8 Tuesday games. The LA Dodgers opened as a -140 favorite with a total of 7.5.

4)Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox, Doug Fister (8-8, 3.54 ERA) vs. Jake Peavy (10-10, 3.22 ERA)

This is a huge series in the AL Central with the Tigers coming in before Monday's game as one game behind the White Sox. Considering how erratic each team is, they are probably playing for the division and the loser could be out of the playoff race. Both pitchers are capable of strong outings. Both are coming off strong performances against weak teams. Detroit is 7-20-1 Under last 28. The White Sox opened as a -110 favorite with a total of 8.5.

5)Odds to Win the Super Bowl
