Five Things You Need to Know in Sports

Want to start your sports day off right? Looking for some action and the most exciting matchups of the day? There are two baseball playoffs game and a few NBA preseason games. Here is a brief look at the top four important matchups of the day along with future odds.

1)San Francisco at Cincinnati, Game 3, NLDS Ryan Vogelsong (14-9, 3.37 ERA) vs. Homer Bailey (13-10, 3.68 ERA)

The Cincinnati Reds look for a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants when the National League Division Series heads to Great American Ball Park for Game 3 on Tuesday. The Giants have been outscored 14-2 in the first two games of the series. None of the other 21 teams that have started an NLDS down 0-2 have come back to win the series. San Francisco is 10-2 last 12 on Tuesday. Cincinnati opened as a -140 favorite with a total of 8.

2)Detroit at Oakland, Game 3, ALDS, Annibal Sanchez (4-6, 3.74 ERA) vs. Brett Anderson (4-2, 2.57ERA)

This is the third game of the American League Division Series. Detroit won both games at home to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five-series. Sanchez has pitched well for the Tigers, especially in the last three starts, posting a 2.57 ERA. The Coliseum is one of the toughest places to hit in the major leagues. Detroit is 6-13-1 Under in the last 20 meetings in Oakland. Oakland opened as a -135 favorite with a total of 7.

3)Dallas takes on Barcelona from Spain, NBA Preseason

The Mavericks have an aging, veteran club that lost Jason Terry and Jason Kidd but they did add point guards Darren Collison and O.J. Mayo. They also added center Chris Kaman and Elton Brand to help up front. It will be interesting to see how the new additions mesh with Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion and company.

4)Milwaukee at Cleveland, NBA Preseason

These are two young teams to watch this year. The Bucks have a young point guard in Brandon Jennings, who will match up with Kyrie Irving. The Bucks add big man Samuel Dalembert along with rookie John Henson to help up front. Cleveland will have one of the best young teams in the NBA. They just aren't ready for prime time with rookie center Tyler Zeller from North Carolina and guard Dion Waiters from Syracuse.

5)Odds to win Super Bowl XLVII
