Five Things You Need to Know

Looking for some exciting events on Tuesday? Want to lay some action down on some national tv games? Here are some of the top four matchups of the day including a rare Tuesday college football game, baseball playoffs along with future odds.

1)UL Lafayette at North Texas, 9pmET, Apogee Stadium

Here is a very important matchup in the Sun Belt. Last year: UL LAFAYETTE (-9) over North Texas, 30-10. UL Lafayette (4-1, 2-0 SBC) is coming off a 41-13 win over Tulane on Oct. 6, while North Texas (2-4, 1-1 SBS) lost at Houston, 44-21 on Oct. 6 .The road team is 5-1 ATS L6 in series. UL Lafayette is a 4-point favorite with a total of 57.5.

2)NY Yankees at Detroit, Game 3, ALCS, Phil Hughes (16-13, 4.14 ERA) vs. Justin Verlander (19-8, 2.51 ERA)

Game 3 of this series moves to Comerica Park in Detroit. The Detroit Tigers send ace Justin Verlander to the mound Tuesday in Game 3 while owning a 2-0 series lead. Detroit posted a 6-4 victory in 12 innings in the series opener as Delmon Young collected three RBIs, including the game-winner. Young also notched the game-winning RBI in Game 2, but the story was Anibal Sanchez, who yielded three hits in seven scoreless innings. NY Yankees are 6-2 last 8 vs. Detroit with Verlander on the mound. Detroit is a -180 favorite with a total of 7.

3)NBA Preseason. Brooklyn at Boston, TD Garden

Brooklyn Nets are coming off their first-ever home game at the Barclays Center on Monday, and will move to Boston to face the Celtics. The Nets should be much-improved with a healthy Brook Lopez at center, along with veterans Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson and Deron Wiliams. Boston is an aging team though they do have a solid rookie in Jared Sullinger, who adds some bulk up front. No line at press time.

4)NBA Preseason, Orlando at Detroit

The Orlando Magic are rebuilding without Dwight Howard and coach Stan Van Gundy. They travel to the Palace at Auburn Hills to take on Detroit. The Pistons are coming off losing at Milwaukee, 108-91, but rookie Andre Drummond had a huge game with 19 points and 10 rebounds though he did foul out in 25 minutes. This is a borderline playoff team this year. No line at press time.

5)Odds to win 2012-13 Super Bowl

The Super Bowl odds are back and Houston remains the favorite, despite their first loss last week. New England is somehow the second favorite despite losing at Seattle on Sunday and starting out just 3-3.
