Two interesting games

Royals (May) at Angels (Lackey)

--The ‘under’ is 22-16 when the Royals are playing on the road.

--Kansas City’s Darrell May (2-4, 4.10 ERA) is enjoying a personal two-game winning streak after beating Cleveland Wednesday as a $1.30 home ‘chalk,’ 8-2. The left-hander went the complete-game route, surrendering six hits (one home run) with two walks and three strikeouts. The 10 runs landed directly on the closing total.

--May has struggled to an 0-3 road record and 4.73 ERA in seven starts, opposed to his 2-1 home ledger and 3.64 ERA in eight outings.

--The Royals have dropped all seven of May’s road endeavors.

--The California native fell to Anaheim last year despite having an impressive outing as a $1.85 home underdog, 1-0. May went the complete-game route, yielding six hits (one home run) with no walks and five strikeouts.

--Anaheim’s John Lackey (6-7, 5.01 ERA) recorded his second consecutive victory while also enjoying 16 1/3 innings of scoreless ball. The two-year veteran beat Los Angeles as a $1.33 home underdog, 3-0, and Texas as a $1.85 home favorite, 5-0. The right-hander surrendered just nine hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts. The ‘under’ cashed both times.

--Lackey maintains a 5-2 home record and 4.09 ERA in nine games, opposed to his disappointing 1-5 road ledger and 6.00 ERA in nine contests.

--LVSC set Anaheim as a $1.70 home favorite over Kansas City, with the total listed at nine ‘over’ (minus $1.20). LVSC also has the Angels as a $2.40 ‘chalk’ to win this series, while the Royals are a $1.90 underdog.

Dodgers (Alvarez) at Padres (Eaton)

--The ‘under’ is an incredible 31-7 when the Dodgers are playing on the road. There is an average of 6.4 runs per game when Los Angeles is away from home.

--Los Angeles is 2-8 its last 10 games, with the ‘under’ also going 8-2.

--San Diego, 7-3 the past 10 games, is 16-29 at home.

--The Padres are 7-3 versus Los Angeles this season, with the ‘under’ going 8-2. There has been an average of just 5.8 runs per game between these teams in four outings at Qualcomm Stadium.

--Veteran Wilson Alvarez gets his first starting assignment with Los Angeles. The 33-year-old left-hander has appeared in five games, tossing 14 2/3 innings while yielding two runs on 10 hits with three walks and 15 strikeouts. The Venezuela native has one save with a 1.23 ERA.

--San Diego’s Adam Eaton (3-7, 4.44 ERA) was 0-3 his last four starts before beating Los Angeles Thursday as a decided $2.20 road underdog, 7-4. The four-year veteran surrendered four runs (one earned) on nine hits with no walks and four strikeouts over six innings.

--The combined 11 runs toppled the 6 ½-run closing total, helping the ‘over’ cash his second straight start.

--Eaton earned no decisions his previous four outings versus the Dodgers. The right-hander went a combined 27 innings, allowing just six runs on 17 hits (one home run) with seven walks and 21 strikeouts. The ‘under’ cashed all four occasions, with Los Angeles winning each game by a run.

--LVSC opened San Diego as a $1.20 home favorite over Los Angeles, with the total set at 7 ½ ‘over’ (minus $1.20).
