Vegas Experts
Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Hornets
Wednesday, March 8, 8:05 P.M. EST

Lakers are playing their 10th game in 16 days since the All-Star Break. They are 5-4 S/U and ATS but the schedule has to take its toll on them soon, probably here. The Hornets caught them February 4 in a no-rest spot and dealt them a 106-90 loss in Oklahoma City. LA LAKERS are 6-19 ATS in road games versus good foul drawing teams - attempting >=27 free throws/game over the last 2 seasons and 50-76 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record over the last 3 seasons.

Play on: New Orleans

3 Star Selection
Syracuse (+2 ½) 76 Cincinnati 69
08-Mar-06 09:00 AM Pacific Time
My ratings would favor Cincy by 2 ½ points using all games for both teams, but Cincinnati has not been nearly as good since losing Armein Kirkland for the season in mid-January. The Bearcats are just 6-8 straight up and 4-9-1 ATS in 14 games since losing Kirkland and my ratings favor Syracuse by 3 points if I used the entire season for the Orange and just the games without Kirkland for Cincinnati. However, Syracuse has not played as well in conference play and using their conference games only against Cincy’s games without Kirkland result in a fair line of Bearcats by 1 point, which is what I consider the fair line to be in this game. These teams split their regular season meetings by trading blowout wins on the other’s home court, but the most recent game was a Cincinnati victory in Syracuse and the Orange qualify in a 22-1 ATS subset of a 68-26-2 ATS conference tournament revenge situation. Syracuse is also 18-8-2 ATS as an underdog in post-season play since 1990, including 17-3-1 ATS as a dog of 6 points or less. I’ll take Syracuse in a 3-Star Best Bet at +1 or more and for 2-Stars at pick (no play if Syracuse becomes a favorite).

2 Star Selection
Georgetown (-3) 72 Notre Dame 62
08-Mar-06 11:25 AM Pacific Time
Notre Dame is better than their 15-12 record, but the Irish just can’t beat a good team, as they have no victories against teams that are clear cut NCAA Tournament teams. The best teams the Irish beat this season are Alabama, Rutgers, and Seton Hall, all of whom are at least 4 points worse than Georgetown. Georgetown won their game at Notre Dame this year (their only meeting) and they should win today too. Notre Dame has lost a lot of close games and my ratings favor Georgetown by only 2 ½ points, but the Hoyas are coming off an upset loss to South Florida and they apply to a very good 59-16-3 ATS conference tournament bounce-back situation. I’ll take Georgetown in a 2-Star Best Bet at -3 or less and for 3-Stars at -2 or less.

2 Star Selection
Tulsa (-3 ½) 63 Southern Miss 52
08-Mar-06 12:25 PM Pacific Time
Tulsa applies to a very strong 69-19-2 ATS conference tournament situation that is tough to pass on. The Hurricanes should only be favored by 3 points based on my ratings, but I’m willing to give up some line value to make this a Best Bet. I’ll take Tulsa for 2- Stars at -4 points or less and I’ll Upgrade Tulsa to a 3-Star Best Bet at -3 points or less.
