New York Mets (Kile/Leiter) -130 Well I am going to back the hometown Mets here.

They send Al Leiter to the mound who has been unhittable with a minuscule ERA of 0.37 with a WHIP of 0.958 in 24 innings pitched, he has 24 strikeouts with only 7 walks. The Mets are 4-0 in his last 4 trips to the hill against the Cards.

The Cards counter with Darryl Kile who has been anything but spectacular thus far in 3 starts he has yet to gain a decision with an ERA of 3.71 and the Cardinals going 1-2 in those games.

Neither team has been overly impressive thus far on offense although they both have plenty of talent in that area, the Cards are only hitting .191 as a team against lefties in their last 5 games allowing the opposition an on base percentage of .395 while the Mets are hitting .260 versus right handers in their last 5 only allowing their opponents to hit .232 with an OBP of .321.

The Mets hold a very strong advantage in the bullpen with an ERA of 2.17 at home striking out 30 while walking only 11,while the Cards bullpen has been less impressive on the road with an ERA of 4.62 giving up 5 home runs striking out 17 while walking 21.

Well with two teams that are struggling on offense I like our chances with the hot pitcher backed up by a very solid bullpen to get the win here at home!
