won easy last night on Det..

UNLV Runnin' Rebels at New Mexico Lobos
Wednesday, March 1, 9:00 P.M. EST

The wise guys have ignored the Rebels this year and let them compile a 16-9 ATS record. That includes a 7-4 ATS mark on the road. They are 4-1 ATS the last five lined games at New Mexico too where the Lobos have been overrated this year in compiling a 5-7 home spread mark. Rebels came off a loss to Air Force the first time these clubs met and controlled every facet of the game in winning 67-56 as a 7.5-point home favorite. Now once again the Rebels are coming off a loss to Air Force so this is a drop in class for them to take on the Lobos. UNLV is 32-17 ATS when the line is +3 to -3 since 1997, 8-1 ATS when the total is 130 to 139.5 over the last 2 seasons and 10-1 ATS in road games after 3 straight games committing 14 or less turnovers since 1997.

Sport: College Basketball Picks
Game: Mississippi State @ Arkansas on Mar 1 2006 8:00PM
Prediction: Arkansas
Reason: Arkansas has won three straight games by a combined 10 points but all three came against some solid competition as Florida, Alabama and Tennessee are a combined 28-14 in the SEC. The Razorbacks have improved to 8-6 in the conference and are now one win away from a 20-win season and a possible NCAA Tournament bid. Arkansas has an RPI of 46 which is impressive coming from a conference as tough as the SEC. The Razorbacks are tough at home, going 15-1 on the year.

The Bulldogs are struggling with losses in 10 of their last 13 games including seven straight defeats on the road, all in SEC action. Only two of those losses were by single digits, a six-point setback at Alabama and a four point loss at Auburn. Mississippi St. is getting outscored by 10.4 ppg on the road this season and even though this line is greater than that, three of its five losses against the top teams have been by 15 points or more. Arkansas is also looking for some payback from a two-point loss last month.

The Bulldogs are averaging a mere 60 ppg on the road while shooting just 42.2 percent. The biggest problem for Mississippi St. is at the free throw line where it is hitting just 56 percent away from home and that alone could be the deciding factor. Arkansas is very solid on offense but its defense is often overshadowed. The Razorbacks are allowing only 60.7 ppg at home on 38.3 percent shooting and their 41.5 percent shooting allowed overall is good for 63rd in the country.

The home/road dichotomy is prevalent with both squads as the home team is 17-6 in Mississippi St. games and 20-3 in Arkansas games. The combined 37-9 record is huge and the home team is at an advantage once again. Jamall Edmondson, the Bulldogs third leading scorer and top three-point shooter is likely out once again as he is battling pneumonia. Arkansas will be hungry to keep its run going and will avenge that early loss in a big way on Wednesday.

Black Chip Comp
(March 1): (Free Pick Section)
(16-4 / +36.7 units last 20 picks)

The calendar has turned over into March and along with that comes another big edition of March Madness. As usual our NCAA Basketball Service is always our most popular service of the whole year, and we are less than 2 weeks away from another Selection Sunday for March Madness (March 12th). Free pick wise we have been on a strong recent run winning 16 of our last 20 posted plays (all on college hoops) for a big +36.7-unit profit.
Wednesday NCAA Basketball:
KANSAS-8½ over Colorado: (3* selection)
A key to this game will be whether or not young Kansas can recover quickly after getting destroyed at Texas on Mon. night 80-55, but the Jayhawks had won 10 in a row SU prior to that and we are still not buying into Colorado as a legit NCAA Tourney team. Colorado has played a soft overall schedule (#113 in Sagarin rankings), and the Buffs have lost their last 4 road games by an average of 12 ppg. even though those outings have come against some lower echelon Big 12 teams (Nebraska, Kansas St., Texas A&M, and Iowa St.). Colorado leading scorer swingman Roby (17.8 ppg.) has also been in a shooting slump at 32% FG in his last 3 games, and Kansas leads the nation in FG% defense at 36.3% while allowing only 61 ppg. The Jayhawks won at Colorado earlier in the season 75-63, and that marked the 33rd SU win for Kansas in the last 34 meetings in this series. The balanced Jayhawks have 5 players averaging between 8.5 and 13.7 ppg. led by B.Rush, and Kansas is also 11th in the nation in rebound margin at +6.9 ppg. Colorado’s 65% FT shooting as a team hurts them more in road games, and the Buffs have lost 4 of their last 7 outings overall SU since a 15-3 start. Kansas has won 6 in a row at home, and we like the Jayhawks to win and cover for 3-units in this 6pm PT tipoff.

These comps have been red hot.

4 star Texas A&M
Opinion-Miss St

3 star Denver, Portland (both NBA)

Our selections include Texas A&M, Denver Nuggets, and Portland Trail Blazers.

Texas A&M -- At 8 pm, our Big 12 Game of the Month is on team 770, the Texas A&M Aggies, as they fall into a 17-0 system which plays on home dogs off back to back wins and covers that have same season revenge against a foe off a win and cover, provided both teams have win percentages between .640 and .875. Texas A&M will be going for its 6th straight win tonight vs. the Longhorns, who won the first meeting in Austin by 13 points. Last Saturday, Texas won its biggest game of the season with a blowout over Kansas. I look for a letdown tonight, as A&M is a solid 13-4 as dogs of +7 or more points. Take the home dog Aggies tonight.

Denver Nuggets -- At 9:05 pm, our NBA Non-Conference Game of the Month is on the Denver Nuggets, who fall into an 64-20 ATS system which plays on revenging home teams that are an underdog, or not favored by more than 5 points, who are off a SU/ATS loss, and matched up against a non-division foe off 3 straight covers. Provided our home teams lost by 8+ points in its last game, they're a solid 64-20 ATS since March 1999. Take Denver.

Portland Trail Blazers -- At 10:05 pm, our Western Conference Game of the Week is on the Portland Trail Blazers plus the points over the Lakers, as Portland falls into a 35-11 ATS system that plays on conference home dogs of more than 5 points that are off back to back SU/ATS losses, and matched up against a less rested foe off a point spread win. With Portland off 6 straight losses (both SU & ATS) and the Lakers off a win and cover last night over Orlando, we'll take the points with the rested Blazers tonight. Good luck, as always...Al McMordie.

*KANSAS over Colorado...We’re not sure there has been a more dramatic transformation this season than what’s taken place at Kansas.
In major rebuild mode at season’s outset, “Baby Jayhawks” have now learned to fly on their own, alright, and are hitting March as one of
nation’s hottest squads with 9 straight wins (8-1 vs. line) thru Feb. 21. That’s bad news for CU, which already saw KU frosh stars 6-1
Chalmers & 6-6 Rush take over 1st meeting at Boulder Jan. 11, when Jayhawks also dominated boards (by 50-28 count!) en route to 75-
63 win. More frustration in store for Buffs, losers of 33 of last 34 in series. *KANSAS 83 - Colorado 60 RATING - 10
